Theresa Valentini has not had the easiest life. Born in NY to a father who was deeply imbedded in the mafia, her parents did whatever they had to to escape that life, moving clear across the country to L.A. When her parents die, Theresa is left responsible for her younger brother Nick. But Nick is sucked back in by the allure of that life of crime. Theresa puts it all on hold- her dreams of film school, her dangerous job, and a life safely away from the threat of the past- in order to rescue him.
Will Caruso is unbelievably handsome, absurdly wealthy and has left behind his corporation, his workaholic ways and his cushy conveniences to travel across the country with his gigantic and lovable dog, Southpaw. It is Theresa's mission to return him to NY. It's the only way to save her wayward brother. But Will catches her off guard, he gets under her skin. He SEES her. And Southpaw is a bonus.
How can she live with herself if she continues to lie to this man who, in such a short amount of time, has come to mean everything to her? Can Will sort out all of the pain of his past, and the entanglements of his present, in order to get what he wants for the future?
The sexy scenes in this book are ON POINT. So ridiculously hot and creative that you wonder if they'd be possible. Southpaw's presence as a supporting character is phenomenal. He brings charm and hilarity to some heavy situations. Will is a badass, alpha protector, but also has the ability to understand when Theresa needs to do/think something through herself. And Theresa is no slouch. She is independent, ballsy and strong. It is only with Will that she lets herself be vulnerable and tended to.
Once again, Tessa Bailey has created a winner. For sure, I will FOLLOW her wherever her writing leads.
This book is on some new level of hotness from Tessa Bailey.
From the very beginning, the story lures you in. A sister needing to protect her brother. A son running from the lies and deceit of his parents. A woman who doesn't open her heart so easily, a man who loves his dog. That's just the surface. There's a deep level of lust that requires so much trust, it borders around sanity.
I loved Follow! Oh gosh, I loved, LOVED Will. Alpha, possessive, protective. It's a story of how a lion tames his lioness. The chemistry between Will and Teresa is really off charts. The scenes in this book will have you sitting on a block of ice facing a fan. Yes, it is THAT hot.
Tessa Bailey has definitely hit a new writing mark. Follow is seductive, sexy and captivating. I highly, HIGHLY recommend you read this book!
The past few series from Ms. Bailey have been ok, but they have sometimes lacked the heat and emotional drive of her earlier work. That was definitely not an issue here.
Ms. Bailey, if inspiration strikes and you want to write about a "good guy" crime boss with a best friend adventure cat in the future, I would worship at your alter waiting for that novel. Until that day, I will avidly look forward to your independent ventures and your exciting exploration of the slightly taboo kinks of the world.
