There are a lot of good books on leadership and purpose. Some are very good. And then there are the few great books. Frank Sonnenberg's "Follow Your Conscience" is one of the great ones. Frank's simple eloquence and style makes a very readable, usable, practical and profound book. You can read a just a chapter or two; you don't have to read the whole book at once, though you will want to. You will probably re-read chapters, right away and over time. You can read it in any order, at any time and I bet its relevance and applicability to your life will change as your life changes.

I'm not going to go into detail about the book - that would spoil it. I urge you to get the book, read it, live it, share it. And when you're done, read it, live it and share it again. When you are chatting with your friends and colleagues and they tell you about a good book they just read on leadership or purpose, tell them about a great book they should read, "Follow Your Conscience." In fact, why not just give them a copy? It's an easy way to live it!

Frank Sonnnenberg speaks from the heart as a mentor and father figure, providing us with an anchor of clear thinking, solid values integrity, and self-discipline that expresses itself in daily choices and actions.

This book is above all about character and it provides both inspiring vision and a roadmap for implementation. I felt the author walking next to me telling me to do what is right, not what is expedient or easy, to reach for my higher self and to walk in the footsteps of successful people who have gone before.

Character comes out in hard times, during times of stress and uncertainty, and in the way we honor our relationships and commitments. The basis for character is investment in our deeply held values and passions and in finding life balance so we have the strength to continue over the long haul.

This book is like taking a deep, refreshing, restorative breath. Frank's words help us calm anxiety and muster the courage and confidence to meet life's challenges.

There are a lot of people in business who believe that they’re a great leader and they are there to support others. There are people who believe the same of their leaders. Have you ever heard the saying, “it’s not personal, it’s business”? People seem to use that as an excuse to do less than they really could for people. I (h/she) could do better - but it’s just business. Just begin reading Frank’s book and you’ll see that you - or your leaders - are missing out on some things.

Think about what type of role model you believe you are. Then read this book. Now, what type of role model do you believe you are? What kind of role model will you become?

Conscience - attitude, authenticity, integrity, humility, passion, fairness, faith. These are just a few of the things Frank discusses, and in a way that’s easily understood and painless to put yourself in the middle of.

My suggestion? Read the book. Share the book. Use it for a leadership book club. It all makes so much sense that you’re not going to want to keep it to yourself.

Follow Your Conscience, by Frank Sonnenberg, is an uplifting and motivational book that provides leaders and difference makers a valuable collection of stories that offer example of how values can be lived out and embraced.
I have been a fan of Frank’s for years, and continue to be impressed by his thought-provoking tweets and info-graphics – all consistently designed to develop positive leaders.

This book is an easy to read reminder of important lessons, and is organized by the topics he covers – from attitude, to self-sufficiency, to fairness and other useful “Life Lessons” that you will enjoy. I am also thankful for the resources section of the book, where he shares a number of powerful lists that parents, leaders, and great teammates need to read on a regular basis to keep themselves and their organizations motivated and engaged.

I suggest you pick up a copy today – you will be glad you did!

This book is one of life's simple pleasures. It is not a page-to-page fast read; it is rather a book to be savoured chapter by chapter. Frank's style and approach help you to read as you will, reflecting as you go, and thinking anew at the messages presented; the challenges that he highlights; and, the many examples he provides from his own and others' experiences.

Based on strong core values and powerful life purpose, Frank strikes at the heart of those leadership and life issues that many of us have struggled with ... or are maybe still struggling with. This is a book full of wisdom and accrued experience. It will make you think about yourself, your moral character and your moral compass ... and I truly believe that is exactly what Frank intended! In my view, he achieved that aim beautifully. Great leaders are great reflectors! I highly recommend this book, especially if you need some help in that area of your leadership growth and development!
