This book might even be considered a lexicon/glossary/reference book for every biblical concept you can imagine. It’s a reservoir of breakthrough ideas for new believers and long-time sojourners. And it could be one of the best outreach tools I’ve ever seen.
Devotional #8 gave me a surprising new perspective on the crucifixion. Devotionals #61 and #62 expose the power of doubt. Nine of the devotionals helped me see the Fruit of the Spirit in an entirely new light.
If I can describe Following Jesus in three words it would be this: accessible, revealing, fun. (Is it okay to describe a devotional as “fun”?)
The very first reading starts you at the ground floor level and raises you to a new level each time the next one is read. The readings are categorized into five sections with topics covering both the highs and lows plus guided expectations for living a followers life. While reading scripture is the only true way to be led by God's Word this devotional gives verse, adds a subject commentary, along with reflection, prayer and scripture in each topic. Leading anyone from novice or highly practiced to focused and thoughtful reflection reading the Word of God.
As a morning and evening prayer practitioner this book is a perfect fit for those times. A perfect addition to my personal relationship studies in order to find my true purpose and untapped potential by following the man Jesus. I will be adding this devotional as part of my regular time with God. Using this book can only make me richer in my spiritual advancement by doing that. Following does not mean an easy life but the rewards are truly amazing. I highly recommend this uncomplicated, easy to read book. It will speak to you at a personal level.
