This is an amazing book. It will not only guide you to delicious, easy, healthy food options, but also to how you can improve your overall health and life. There is NO OTHER BOOK LIKE THIS out there. It teaches you how to grocery shop, stock your kitchen, prepare food, why whole foods are good for you and so much more. Also, to keep it interesting there are amazing stories that go along with almost every recipe. Highly recommmended for everyone!

This isn't just a cookbook, but more of a way of life. It's all about getting back to a simpler way of life, eating non-processed, straight from the earth. Our two year old goes crazy over the meals and I feel good about what I am putting into her growing body. Tanda and Sarah do a beautiful job sharing their experiences. We gave it to family for Christmas after we purchased a copy for ourselves. I would recommend it to anyone interested in simply improving their quality of life:)

This cookbook is organized in a really interesting way. The beginning educates you about food and (more specifically) health, with a workbook to help you decide what health means to you. There is also a section on cooking with kids, which is great when trying to get your babies to eat something other than spaghetti! The "Try This" twists and "Health Tips" at the end of each recipe are a nice addition to help you switch up the meals & learn why you're eating that food. It makes for great reading while you cook. My favorite is the Italian Sausage over Spaghetti Squash, yum!

This book is a beautiful, clear, and simple guide to eating whole, nutritious food that is at the foundation of healthy living. It is a personal and intimate encounter with two women who have transformed their lives by applying what they prescribe throughout the book. Not only is the writing steeped in personal experience, it is backed by their wisdom in Naturopathic medicine and experience working with clients. The recipes are clear, simple and totally delicious. It is also packed with clear and distinguished information that makes it easy for people to make a transition into a cleaner, healthier diet and lifestyle. I made the bean dip for a potluck at work and it was a huge success...and it only took me 10 minutes to prepare! I made the peanut sauce and pad Thai stir fry for a friend, only to learn he didn't like cilantro as I was making our meal. Turns out he not only loved it, he couldn't even tell I had used quite a large quantity of cilantro in the peanut sauce. What I love most about a lot of these recipes is how easy it is to get highly nutritious and delicious food without spending hours in the kitchen (unless I really want to!!). The old excuse of not having time to be healthy will go right out the window when you apply these recipes to your life. Being that I have intolerance to gluten, I've struggled to find a consistent way to eat really good food without sacrificing flavor and these ladies have given me a great resource that has re-inspired my love of cooking as well as saving me time and frustration. Bonus: A lot of gluten free products and sauces that are available in the store have soy-based ingredients in them, which I avoid, and these recipes steer away from major allergen causing foods, which again, makes my life a lot more simple. I'm so grateful to be able to make delicious, clean and healthy food that supports my well being and lifestyle. THANK YOU SARAH AND TANDA!!

I've enjoyed MANY recipes throughout this book, but the first 47 pages are my absolute favorite! From the author's personal stories (so inspiring!!), to explanations of whole foods, food intolerances, dairy & gluten, to a shopping guide and suggestions on how to stock your kitchen and pantry..... I USE THIS PART ALL THE TIME!! As far as my favorite recipe in the book? I'm HOOKED, thank you very much, Tanda Cook, on the Open-Face breakfast sandwich, the Perfect Roast Chicken, and of course the Pesto(s) or GREEN SAUCE ideas!! I also love that with each entry, there is a short "health tip" and suggestions of how to give variety to each recipe-- you'll never get tired of cooking from this book! FOOD THAT GROWS has a special place on my kitchen counter!

I purchased Food That Grows for the recipes, however, it is so much more than just a cookbook. Tanda and Sarah's stories helped me understand who they are and why they do what they do. Part II, What is Health?, cleared up some of the food myths and contradictions that I've heard. Part III, Kitchen Basics, simplified eating whole foods and transforming my kitchen easily. Then on to the recipes! Easy, healthy and very man-friendly, important to my husband and son. Tanda and Sarah have done a wonderful job. I purchased two more copies as gifts for friends who also care about what they feed themselves and their families. It now sits front and center on my kitchen island since I go to it so often when meal planning.

All other reviews are correct - this is the best HEALTHY cookbook I've ever had with some of the most delicious, whole-food recipes... But from another perspective: this cookbook is, from cover to cover, GORGEOUS. The photos throughout are all amazing. The layout is pleasing and easy to read. The way it's written speaks to the soul. The cover is glossy and the paper stock inside is heavy and luxurious. So, buy one for yourself, AND, the next time you're looking for a GIFT for that person on your list that loves food, loves to eat healthy, and you want to give them something BEAUTIFUL - this is it. Hands down.
