Great recipes, but a little unrealistic if you are on a budget. Spent almost $50 just to make one receipe. Eventually you can build up some of the basic ingredients, but there are so many different and unique things you need for each receipe that it makes it hard to make any of these without spending enough money to go out and get a delicious meal. Fun to use occasionally

Love, love, love this book from the photography to the format... a great book. I love to cook and am in the process of writing my own cook book. In my quest to write my book, I have poured through cookbook after cookbook. This is a book that is so unique. It is a calbiration of different recipes found via the WWW. There are 3/+ pages dedicated to each recipe which includes a summary of who the recipe developer is and why they were choosen. The recipes are easy to follow, nice clean directions. The recipe is followed by the Food52 communities comments regarding the recipe and tips and techniques for the recipe. Beautiful book to have on a visible book shelf.

I follow the website, then got this book from the library, did multiple renewals, and now I'm ordering it to keep.
These people hit that sweet spot of providing creative, interesting food that's really good AND doable at home.
So many chefs/sites/magazines are either too exotic or too complicated or so basic and boring. Who needs another meatloaf or chicken salad or shrimp with pasta recipe?
The dishes offered her are fabulous in taste, different from the same-ole same-ole, and yet something a home cook can do without taking a whole day to track down ingredients or prep. They match my tastes perfectly. I want to eat everything here!

Have yet to hit a recipe that we haven't enjoyed! These books are wonderful and I got the second one after loving the first. Well edited, great photography, excellent for the cook and cookbook lover in your life. The ebook is perfect on the iPad Kindle app - and now a standard in our kitchen!

After following the Food52 website for a while, I really wanted to like this book but simply cannot. Basically the problem is with the layout. Every recipe except for seven are two pages or longer and unfortunately they do not face one another but call for a page turn mid recipe. I am not going to work with a recipe that I have to keep flipping pages back and forth to navigate. Also I really see no need for comments from "the community". They add nothing to the recipe and just take up space that could have been better used making for a more readable and useful cookbook. On the positive side, there are many beautiful and well done photographs but that is not enough to save the book for me and unfortunately, it is one that I will relegate to the coffee table or shelf and probably never open again.

I like the grassroots nature of this cookbook. It is nice to know that home cooks such as myself developed these recipes. I have made several of the dishes and especially enjoyed the Moorish Paella and the Clementine Pound Cake.
