Why Choose FoodSaver Bags for Sous Vide Cooking?
Effectively Prepares Food
Sous vide allows you to precisely control your cooking temperature to achieve perfect results. You can cook sous vide in FoodSaver bags by placing them in water at any temperature up to 195°F/90°C.
Keeps Ingredients Secure
By using your FoodSaver vacuum sealing system, water can't permeate through the bag and mess with your ingredients, so your food stays secure during its water bath. Our bags also resist punctures and tearing.
Prevents Contents From Floating
Using FoodSaver bags and vacuum sealers means the pouches are completely airtight, which delivers consistent cooking results and prevents floating during the sous vide water bath.
Advantages of Using FoodSaver
Premium-Quality Bags & Rolls
FoodSaver bags have specially designed channels that remove oxygen, creating an airtight barrier that locks in flavor and prevents spoilage and freezer burn.
Seals Freshness In
The vacuum sealing system automatically removes all the air from the bag and then uses heat to create an airtight seal, which locks out moisture and air to protect food and maintain freshness.
Easy to Use
Simply add food to the bag, insert the open end in a FoodSaver heat-seal vacuum sealing system, and the machine takes care of the rest: removing all the air before creating an airtight seal.

We bought another box of Food Saver bags yesterday (1/3/18) at our local Walmart and they work great. We could see and feel the difference. I truly think it’s just a matter of newer product is better product and the product Amazon delivered is not the same product Food Saver offers today.
Basically, my FoodSaver (and probably most others) has a button that changes the type of food from "dry" to "moist". I never paid that much attention to it, but I was having stuff get frost-burn in the freezer until I figured out that this setting was actually important:
In short, if liquid gets sucked out of the bag along with the air, then you have to give the unit longer to seal the bag, because moisture trapped in the seal area has to be boiled off. That's what the "moist" setting does. Until I started using it correctly, I had seal failures. Now that I get it, I no longer suffer this problem.
In short, the bags work great, if you know what you're doing. Which I do, now. Well, at least in that regard...
Maybe I'm wrong, but it seemed the like the free bags that came w/my FoodSaver unit were much "softer" and easier to use. Hard to describe what I mean, but the original few bags were easier to work with, always sealing the opening on the first try.
These bags however sometimes seem too stiff and the opening won't close so that the FS system can grab em to close/seal the bag. It's as if these are a harder plastic and thus, not as easy to work with. I could be wrong though, so I apologize.
If anyone else has witnessed this please tell me I'm not crazy. The cheap bags tho were this issue times 100. You couldn't get them to close no matter way (opening plastic peeled away from each other, so you couldn't get them to come together for a seal).
As long as I continue to Sous Vide tho, I will continue to buy these bags.
I just stared Sous Vide cooking, and vacuum sealing your food is part of the process. When I can use them, these work great for cooking this way. However, I'm almost always cooking thawed meat and this plus whatever oil or marinade I put in the bag with it makes sealing with the FoodSaver problematic as a wet surface impedes proper sealing. I cooked a pork loin this way and one of the seals leaked, thankfully, not until after it was done cooking. These are wonderful for storing food in you deep freeze, but not so great for Sous Vide. I use ziplock bags for that and use a water displacement method for pushing the air out before cooking.
