Editorial Reviews

"Toasting author Stacy Juba with glass slippers bubbling with champagne! I absolutely LOVE Fooling Around with Cinderella - Stacy's created an enchanting place I want to visit. Fabulous characters, a drop-dead funny, gorgeous heroine (with glasses), some real sisters who need a few good verbal whacks, a nasty villain, and so much more. I loved it and want MORE!"
Elaine Raco Chase, award-winning romance author

"The romance is cute, heartfelt, and chaste...Like a theme park, this story is pleasant, inoffensive, and satisfying..."
Publisher's Weekly

"I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It has a bit of everything - mystery, romance and humour - and is written in a way that draws a reader in, envelopes them in the story, and makes them believe that they are actually there, walking alongside the characters as they play their part."
- Anne-Marie Reynolds, Reader's Favorite

About the Author

Stacy Juba got engaged at Epcot Theme Park and spent part of her honeymoon at Disneyland Paris, where she ate a burger, went on fast rides, and threw up on the train ride to the hotel. In addition to working on her new Storybook Valley chick lit/sweet romance series, Stacy has written books about ice hockey, teen psychics, U.S. flag etiquette for kids, and determined women sleuths. Stacy is also the founder of the Glass Slipper Sisters, a group of authors with Cinderella-themed romance novels. When she’s not visiting theme parks with her family, (avoiding rides that spin and exotic hamburgers) or writing about them, Stacy helps authors to strengthen their manuscripts through her Crossroads Editing Service. She is currently writing the next book in the Storybook Valley Series.

After reading a batch of serious post-apocalyptic thrillers, would-be literary masterpieces, and tight suspense, it was so nice to read a romantic comedy that was written just for fun and delivered the humor, light-hearted, family feelings I got from Fooling Around with Cinderella.

The youngest of three, Jaine Andersen (spelled with an “i” so she won’t be a “plain Jane”) our heroine always feels left out and taken advantage of by her older sisters, the twins. Shauna’s a pharmaceutical rep and single mother. Bree’s an attorney, planning a large wedding. Of course Shauna’s the matron of honor, but she’s too busy to plan the shower or bachelorette party, so she fobs the responsibilities onto Jaine along with caring for her daughter Amber when Jaine loses her job due to downsizing.

It’s during an outing with Amber to Storybook Valley that Jaine realizes the beloved amusement park of her childhood needs better marketing. She prepares a presentation for the owners and ends up not only landing the job of Marketing Director, but also that of Cinderella. She also catches the eye of the CEO and owners’ hunky son in a personal way. Jaine has quite a summer planning marketing strategy for the park, working on her sister’s wedding plans, hiding the fact that she’s Cinderella from her family, keeping her relationship with her boss professional, and foiling the plots of her lifelong nemesis who also works at the park and wants the boss’s job.

Fooling Around with Cinderella kept me burning through the pages and laughing. I highly recommend it for a fun read that will leave you wanting more. And though it’s Book One in the Storybook Valley series, it’s not a cliffhanger! I can’t wait to read the stories of the other denizens of Storybook Valley, but I don’t have to read them to know how the book ends. Woo Hoo! Thank you, Ms. Juba!

I loved this story! Almost didn't buy since I have plenty of other books waiting, but I'm a sucker for fairy tales. Besides, I needed to read something sweet, light, and fun. This was perfect.

I really enjoyed the theme park setting for this storyline. I laughed out loud several times as well as felt my heart squeeze in several places. Jaine touch me personally. Dylan was great. There was drama between Jaine and her sisters as well as a frenemy. Just the right amount of anguish between H and h. I wasn't ready for the story to end. Looking forward to more in this series!

Jaine Andersen is a smart, marketing job seeker who has decided that, after visiting with her young niece, an aging, family-owned amusement park needs her expertise. Storybook Valley Amusement Park isn’t looking for a marketing director but agrees to review her proposal. What the park's new general manager, Dylan Callahan, does need is a new Cinderella. So with a promise from the handsome general manager to add a marketing position in the fall, Jaine agrees to don the Cinderella costume and learn how things are run at the park from the inside.

The quirky characters make this story a pleasurable journey as Jaine learns about this unique family, the business, and its employees. When Jaine discovers her high school nemesis is employed in upper management at Storybook Park and the woman is after Dylan’s job, all bets are off. With Jaine’s own sisters demanding her time for their needs and devices, things in her own life start to fall apart.

It is always great to watch a strong female wade through the twists of a plot and manage to keep her dignity intact while dealing with circumstances beyond her control. There is a nice balance achieved in this story and I would recommend it for a satisfying beach read. I can’t wait to see who the next story is about; there are so many interesting character choices for Ms. Juba to choose from.

FYI: Fooling Around with Cinderella is the first book in the Storybook Valley series from Stacy Juba. **Originally written for "BigAl’s Books and Pals" book blog. May have received a free review copy.** March 14, 2016

I stumbled across Fooling Around With Cinderella by Stacy Juba and when I had some downtime this past weekend, I started reading it. To tell you the truth, I wasn't expecting much because the title was such I didn't think I'd really like it, but the back copy convinced me to take a chance on it.

The story is about Jaine Andersen who does a cold job pitch to Dylan Callahan about new marketing strategies for the Storybook Valley Amusement Park. He says he'll give her the job on one condition---that she play Cinderella for the kids during the summer months. Jaine reluctantly agrees to do it, only because she needs the work and she wants the marketing gig there. She has a lot of memories of visiting Storybook Valley when she was a kid with her parents and she wants to keep that alive. Once she steps into the role of Cinderella, however, things start to change. Prince Charming wants to date her, but she is drawn to the playboy boss that she should definitely not go anywhere near. What's a princess to do?

I loved how relatable Jaine was with all her insecurities and problems. She's got a good heart and is trying to figure out where she belongs and who she belongs with. There was a surprising amount of depth to her character and I loved her wit and banter with the hero. There are some bumps along her road to love, but the end was worth it. *le sigh* It was a book that held my attention and I was sorry to see it end! It was a clean read and I will definitely be looking for the next book in this series.
