Fools Gold Paperback – November 12, 2013
About the Author
Lynn Lovegreen was lucky enough to grow up in Alaska. Her family was stationed there when she was six, and they fell in love with the place. Alaska’s been home ever since. She’s always felt the power of words; she taught English for 20 years before retiring to make more time for writing. When not writing, she loves to spend time with family and friends, read, travel, and shoot at targets with her cowboy action shooting club, the Alaska 49ers. Her young adult historical romances are set in the Alaska Gold Rush, a great time for drama, romance, and independent characters who made their own way in the world. See her website at www.lynnlovegreen.com. You can also find her on Facebook and Pinterest.

Ellie’s first encounter with Duke is on the ship where he tries to stop her from leaning too far over the rail. She considers him brash. He considers her delightful. When Ellie and her brother set out for the gold fields, their plans are dashed.
They find themselves back in Skagway and in Dan and Duke’s saloon looking for a way to earn money.
Duke helps Ellie start a pie business. She loves her new found independence and helps rid the town of a conman, but the summer season is coming to an end. She must return to Nebraska or will she follow her heart and Duke elsewhere?
I loved the characters and setting of this novel. Ms Lovegreen does a beautiful job describing the scenery and beauty of the Alaska frontier. I was sad to end the book and leave Ellie and Duke.
Filled with colorful characters, Soapy Smith comes to the forefront in this tale of greed and deception that will keep you reading to see how the heroine, Ellie, manages to circumvent the graft going on in the little town of Skagway, Alaska.
An engaging story with believable characters that win the reader's heart, the heroine, Ellie, faces struggles in her young life that quickly teach her to grow up and figure out what she wants in life...until the Hero comes along and confuses Ellie with his handsome charm and frustrating persistence. We journey with them, through tough times and challenges that threaten to destroy their happiness, until Ellie comes to the realization that life might not always turn out how you plan it.
A delightful read, filled with emotion and facts about Alaska, it is clear that Ms Lovegreen knows what she is talking about through research and diligence.
I highly recommend this book, Fool's Gold, if you are interested in the Gold Rush era and Alaska!
BONUS! This book is suitable for younger readers.
