Editorial Reviews
Foot In The Door, which is mixed by the legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff, is a remarkable display of Oddisee's outstanding skills both behind the boards and on the mic, with an emphasis on his brilliance as an emcee. Foot In The Door features guest appearances from Freddie Foxxx, J-Live, Supastition, Asheru, Darien Brockington, Kenn Starr, Kev Brown & more, as well as production from Oddisee & Kev Brown, among others. Foot In The Door clearly establishes Oddisee as a genuine double-threat producer/emcee extraordinaire with a fresh, innovative style and a universal appeal. His brilliant flow, clever word-play, vast intellect and intriguing charisma on the mic, together with his expertise behind the boards, will undoubtedly solidify Oddisee's reputation as one of the few gifted producer/emcees who can shine equally in both forms and as one of the most talented, original and well-rounded artists of our time.

As far as flaws, despite a few helpouts from Kev Brown (another DC Area producer/emcee on the rise), I'd have to say that the production doesn't shift gears very often. The production is good, but a lot of the album sounds like one really long single. With that being said, in my humble opinion, the production hurts the replay value. But it's a consistent stream of smooth beats, so I guess it all hinges on what your listening preference is.
With his debut LP, Oddisee accomplishes what few would expect from a rapper from Washington DC. The producer/emcee handles the majority of the production with a few assists from Kev Brown. The topics range from growing up to gentrification to buying new shoes. With great beats, tight rhymes, and superb blending from Jazzy Jeff, Foot In The Door will be kicking down doors before you know it.
Standout Tracks: Boogie feat. J-Live & Asheru, Butcher's Back, Such Is Life, The Answer, Big Bidness, Gentrification (My Favorite), Price To Pay feat. Asheru, Kenn Starr, & Darien Brockington, Musik Lounge, and Industry Ills
skillz. The flow of the tracks could have been more sound. Now I understand this is a mix album but I would have
preferred the track to be much longer.
Overall though this is a good album. Buy it!!
