Belle wrote this book in such a way that it sucks you right in and doesn't let you go. I got to the last page and was a little disappointed that I was going to have to wait for the next book to come out! This is what makes a great author.
Two Footsteps is the 2nd book in the game of life series. Morgan (Red), the wife with secrets of her own is missing and has been taken by the Wolf who likes to play games. Who is he? Her husband Reid is distraught. Angry that the detectives are even considering he is a suspect and wanting to find Morgan. Reid wished he had been a better husband in their not so perfect marriage. Secrets come out as the plot thickens. Leaving nothing but desire for the next book!
This book was so well written. It played like a movie in my mind while reading. I will be not so patiently waiting for book 3 of this series so I can find out what happens next!
Continuing on from One Fear, Two Footsteps in the next instalment in The Game Of Life series, where the wolf tells Morgan that she has stolen something from him. She’s a bitch who has made him suffer a torment, along with the twelve before her, and now it’s her turn.
The marriage that we saw as under some stress in One Fear, now shows the imperfection of its’ participants. Morgan and Reid are imperfect, unhappy with their current situation, and are hiding those flaws from each other, and everyone else. What is becoming clear to Morgan, however, is that the Wolf has been stalking her, has been in her family home, and knows more about her marriage than it seems, even she does.
And as I read through, I almost feel like a vulture, watching the struggle of two people whose publicly perfect lives, were privately, and individually falling apart, secrets build upon secrets, and no matter how much information I try to glean from the words that Belle is providing to me, I’m becoming more desperate for answers to the escalating number of questions. Questions that I didn’t even know that I would want to be asking when I first picked up One Fear.
Fact. No matter how hard I shake my tablet in frustration, no more words are falling out.
Fact. If you like watching Criminal Minds, or reading psychological thrillers, then this is a must-read for you.
Fact. I’ve finished Two Footsteps, and there’s no end in sight.
I hate cliff-hangers with the burning passion of a thousand suns, yet I’d eagerly started this series knowing I will be tortured in between publications. Belle Brooks, you clever vixen, you manipulate and make me play your game of reading, as surely as the wolf is playing with his Red. 5 Stars you evil woman.
What a masterfully written story.. told from the perspectives of Red/Morgan, her husband Reid and her tormentor, the Wolf.. the suspense within these pages is tangible; Morgan has such strength of character; whilst her situation seems hopeless she is a fighter and the love for her family provides added resilience and resolve …and Reid in the face of a devastating situation remains determined and focused on ensuring that his wife is located and returned home safely…but not everything is as it should be there are secrets and deceptions which are set to unravel their realities..and make them question everything they believe…
I have a considerable list of theories on the outcome of this story and the identity of the Wolf…but the truth is that this is such an intriguing and carefully crafted story with so many potential clues and misdirections that I remain none the wiser….and at the end there is another heart stopping cliffhanger which left me bewildered with more questions than answers and desperate for the next instalment….I received a copy of this book as an ARC from the author
