Footsteps In The Sand by Ju Ephraime is a contemporary romance with hints of aparanormal and ghost story centered around the holiday period ofChristmas. Five years ago, James' wife and love of his life drowned. He's never gotten over her, and since her body was never recovered, hasnever found a way to grieve properly. A part of him still believes thatshe is out there, and he sees signs of her around the house that hebought on the beach for her to come home to. He also sees her in Shelly, a mysterious woman who washes up on shore and has many of the qualities of James' wife. Shelly seems like the perfect person to rid James ofhis pain, but can he really let go of the love of his live? Is he readyto move on or does he want to hang on to the past forever, even if itmeans missing a chance to be with someone that he could truly love...?

Footsteps In The Sand is a nice seasonal love story that will make youthink about the miracles that happen during the Christmas season. It isheavy on the sizzle in the romance department, which I enjoyed. It isalso about true love and overcoming those debilitating emotions of fearand loss and pain. I loved having a main male character that wassuffering and wasn't afraid to show his emotions. Hats off to JuEphraime for depicting that so well.

Once again a truly amazing work of art. Footsteps in the Sand was just the read I needed to make me believe once again in miracles. Although James, the main character, may seem a little off in the beginning he does have his reasons. Nicola was his soul-mate, the one he breathed and would die for. Unfortunately, a tragic situation occurs which puts James into a pain ridden sense of mind. He wishes and prays that his wife would be back by his side, that he envisions footprints in the sand along with his when he runs. Is it imagination or can it be actually true that Nicola is there with him? Family and friends worry about James state of mind and depression, but along comes Shelly. Can she change James from the depressive to one who wants to love again? There is something up with her also, can love and people be reincarnated? This is a definite recommended read for everyone. Get ready for tears, heartbreak, and belief that maybe miracles can really happen.

This novel is told in an engaging and unaffected style and benefits greatly from such an approach, so that the genuine feelings of the main characters come through quite tellingly. The reader's sympathies are immediately drawn towards James Lorde, as he tries to deal with such a major loss as the death of his wife Nicola -- his one true love -- and at the same time, as he tries to get on with his own life, knowing all the time that there is a huge void in his heart and in his soul -- a void that he feels certain can never be filled. That is, until he finds himself stirred by the appearance on the beach of a lonely figure of a woman who appears as though she has just been washed ashore. His wife Nicola had presumably drowned five years earlier, but her body had never been found. From this point on, the reader gets drawn into James's dilemma as he struggles to remain faithful to the memory of his dear Nicola, yet finds himself mysteriously drawn to Shelly who, in many ways, reminds him of what he has lost as she begins to touch his soul and arouse his latent feelings in much the same way Nicola once did. A heart-warming story that readers will, no doubt, find particularly enthralling!

This deserves a five star. The content, the flow and the fluid dialogue made this a pleasure to read. Some lines touched my heart deeply as they pertain to human nature, an area in which I am deeply interested. The despair we all experience "Oh Nocola, why did you have to leave?" --Many have asked similar questions. The story is one that touches the inner soul. Ju's vivid description of the events is certainly superior for its realism. Her narrative is specially gripping. Well done, Ju. Keep on providing us with the thoughts of your beautiful mind. Footprints in the Sand: A Christmas Ghost Story by Ju Ephraime is a December 2013 Envision publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

"Some might call him crazy, but he felt her presence. His family thought he was insane, but he knew his wife. He knew her unique scent- mint, lemon, and citron. It was always around him when he was on the beach, and sometimes, when he'd look back, he could have sworn there were four footsteps in the sand, but before he could look closer, they were always washed away by the tide."
Five years have passed since James lost the love of his life, Nicola. A tragic boating accident on Christmas day took her life. The loss of Nicola has left James a broken man. He is riddled with guilt and shame that he didn't do more to protect and save her. James never celebrated another Christmas. There was no tree, gifts or any other reminders except in his memories. This Christmas though things change for James when he rescues a woman on the beach. There is something strangely familiar about her and James finds himself drawn towards her ... maybe because she is just like his beloved Nicola. Is it possible....
The more I read of Ju Ephraime, the more I like her style. This supernatural love story is sweet and sensual. I felt terrible for James. The pain and heartbreak that he can't get past will make you want to reach through the pages and comfort him. His family worries and maybe interferes a little at times. There is just no hope for James other than to maybe someday be reunited with Nicola in the afterlife. But, maybe that isn't the only way James can reunite with Nicola. What if there was another way? Could there be a little Christmas magic after all?
If you like paranormal and contemporary romance reads with a holiday theme, check this one out. It's hot off the presses and is now available in Amazon kindle store.

Although Footsteps in the Sand is set during Christmas, it's one of those great books you can read and enjoy any time of year. It's a fairly short novella centered around James and the loss of his beautiful wife, Nocola, five years before on Christmas. It's easy to identify with him in his grief--particularly if you've lost a spouse or any dear loved one--and to fall in love with his character, because of his incredible devotion to his long lost wife. The vivid description of Nicola and James' relationship combined with oceanic beauty makes the story a pleasure to read from beginning to end with little pause. The plot is on point, characters appropriately developed, and the author has a way with words that is very appealing. When the mysterious Shelly washes ashore on Christmas day, she brings hope and love to James once again, and without giving any spoilers, it's a beautiful new spin on ghost stories in general. There are several endearing sex scenes, but nothing raunchy, so it fits nicely into the genre of paranormal romance mixed in with a few awesome Buddhist beliefs. I gave the 4-star rating, because the story was excellent, but I would have loved to have seen it developed a little more. There were a few editorial blips, but nothing that really detracted from the novella. (Disclosure: I was gifted the book, but my review is unbiased and my opinions are solely based on my unique experience).
