Has info on different types of leather and materials used for shoes as well as its prosperities. Had design ideas. Interviews with people in the industry. Illustration tips and templates. I was more than pleasantly surprised with this book when I received it. The book's contents were certainly not detailed properly in the synopsis on Amazon.I find it to be an excellent reference point for all budding footwear designers.It shows the history of footwear, design techniques, how to research and lay out a collection.I am so happy I bought this book and intend to divulge all its contents. I can see I am going learn many secrets about footwear design that will make me a better footwear designer. Please note that this book is more for footwear design than the actual construction. Although it does briefly demonstrate the use of a shoe last and how a pattern is laid out, it doesnt really give pull out sections on design patterns for shoes. You need a pattern cutting book for shoes for that one. However if you want to learn about footwear design itself then this is your manual of choice!
