Forbidden Bigfoot: Exposing the Controversial Truth about Sasquatch, Stick Signs, UFOs, Human Origins, and the Strange Phenomena in Our Own Backyards Paperback – September 2, 2013

3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars 44 ratings

Mysterious footprints. Eerie screams. For centuries, if not longer, stunned witnesses have reported face-to-face encounters with the bizarre beasts responsible for mystifying us with the tantalizing evidence they leave behind. Countless books and documentaries have offered up the same explanation, that Bigfoot are nothing more than large, bipedal apes that mainstream science has yet to accept as real. But is this the truth, or merely disinformation?

Now, Lisa A. Shiel--author of the acclaimed
Backyard Bigfoot--presents the uncensored facts about Bigfoot in a meticulously researched, no-holds-barred exploration of the phenomenon. Forbidden Bigfoot exposes the startling connections between Sasquatch and other unexplained phenomena, from UFOs and fairies to stick signs and crop-circle-like formations. Shiel strips away the hype about claims of Bigfoot DNA evidence, touted as the ultimate proof, and explores what genetics and the fossil record can really tell us about these elusive creatures.

What are the facts? Grab a copy of Forbidden Bigfoot today to find out!

Review

"[Shiel] offers us her very best, which is nothing less than a first-class study of the anomalous side of Bigfoot. ... [She] pulls no punches when she notes the spectacular failure of the [Bigfoot research] community to prove its point that the North American Bigfoot are simply unidentified and unclassifiedapes...be prepared for a wild ride into the world of Bigfoot that so many steer clear of. Their loss can be your gain - if you are prepared to think, and look, outside of the Bigfoot box." -- Nick Redfern, Mysterious Universe

"[This book] is an excellent read! ... [It] will be a classic book in BF world." --
Regan Lee, Frame 352: The Stranger Side of Bigfoot

"An informed, informative, and valued contribution to the growing library of cryptozoological studies. ... Very highly recommended reading, particularly for non-specialist general readers with an interest in cryptozoological and related studies."
--Julie Summers, Midwest Book Review

I found this book to have a very different approach to the bigfoot mystery. It is well written and easy to understand. I have long thought that bigfoot may in some way be connected with ufo's or interdimensional beings. The book also has lots of clear photos of possible evidence that the author has collected. The author also makes it clear that all evidence should be carefully looked at and not scraped because it did not meet a researcher's criteria. I myself believe bigfoot exists as the volumes of sightings speak for themselves. I highly recommend this book. J.E.

I have not finished this yet, but it brings up important issues linking the bigfoot and
ufo and other paranormal stuff.

However, in the DNA chapter, it mentions that software can run a family tree from
genome sequencing and get different results different times. The example given
is one run gave Pygmy and the other Kung Bushmen as the root of the human
family. Both, it was pointed out, cannot be true.

But yes they can. If the Bushmen are an Oriental-Pygmy hybrid to begin with. And
these have the mongolian pigmentation spot on the base of the spine, and the
hair type is different from normal African hair. Ming Dynasty pottery has been
found in the Zimbabwe ruins, and Chinese culture did not value soldiers and
sailors highly. When the Ming overthrew the Mongol Yuan Dynasty, the remaining
Yuan population would have been demoted - incl. to being sailors. Hmmmm.
Perhaps the apparently conflicting runs of genome were not that much in
conflict after all, however, obviously one of them missed something.

Kind of hard to read downy hold my interest

If you read her previous book, Backyard Bigfoot, then you pretty much know what you are getting into. Lisa Shiel gives her arguments on why she believes Sasquatch has metaphysical properties. I believe she does a good job in presenting those views. This book goes way beyond Backyard Bigfoot and will be a great read for those who liked her other book. It should be read by the people who believe Bigfoot is only a primate. Unfortunately, it probably won't.

Ms Shiel does a good job of covering the whole of Bigfoot/Sasquatch research. I had vaguely heard of them braiding horses' manes, but I hadn't heard of "stick signs".

Based on the books I've read and TV shows that I've seen, in my opinion, I think SOME of the Bigfoot/Sasquatch are flesh and blood animals who eat, sleep, procreate, excrete, etc. However, in my opinion, others are paraphysical beings who take that form for whatever reason.

This book is more of a basic primer of the many aspects of the culture of the Bigfoot phenomena than an answer to anything written in the title. A lot of it focuses on the minutiae and word meanings which might be useful to those who know absolutely nothing but is of little use to those searching for new information or deeper insights or true curiosity. While the authors openmindedness is refreshing there is more than a bit of condescension in the words and it comes across to the educated reader as patronizing. While a few observations about the culture of those both for and against the existence of Bigfoot in any form demonstrates keen observations and conclusions the book would benefit from major revision to remove the obvious repetitions. Reading the last two chapters and skipping the others is my advice. Very disappointing book.

Most definitely want to recommend this book. Excellent reading, the opportunity to understand, wonder, and to make ones own conclusions on the matter at hand are great. I have to say, great writing Mrs. Shiel.

This book is so well written, it is absolutely the best type of investigation on the subject of the elusive creatures known as Bigfoot.
Undoubtedly, it has helped to broaden my horizon on the paranormal aspect of these creatures as witnessed by reliable people and
not yet recognised in the realm of science. Are we not lagging in ignorance?
