From the Author

"Forbidden" was the first full length romance I had published, by Penguin US in 2010. I'm delighted to now be indie publishing all four books in The Druid Chronicles, and I hope you enjoy reading them :-)

Set in the turbulent years when Rome invaded Britain, each book in The Druid Chronicles centers on the romance between a hero and heroine who must fight almost insurmountable odds against their culture, beliefs and gods before they can be with the one they love.

Each book can be read as a standalone. There are no cliffhangers!

The Druid Chronicles
#1 Forbidden
#2 Captive
#3 Enslaved
#4 Tainted

The mighty Roman Empire spreads across the face of the earth, conquering and destroying all who dare to stand in her path. Britain falls, and the rich natural resources of Cymru beckon. But in a fragile world, where the old ways are threatened by the new patriarchal order, the ancient goddesses will do anything to ensure their names will never be forgotten in the hazy mists of time...

This is my first book by Christina Phillips, but I'd like to try out this author again. The book was well-plotted, with good, solid main characters and an evil villain who was well-drawn. The Roman time period added interest! I didn't find it any spicier than an ordinary historical romance novel, and indeed could have seen more sex for the price of an erotica. With that said, the book was well-written and the story so engrossing I spent a cold evening with a glass of wine and this book, completely enthralled! Phillips has now been added to my fav author list!

What a story! Phillips has created a tale steeped in history and mythology that really captured my attention. I loved how she developed religion and culture in detail, really giving me a feel for the time in which the characters lived. At the same time, she wasn’t afraid to bend social conventions to allow her characters to really stand out and be themselves. The plot was exciting and really captivating. The descriptions and narrative were written in a manner that highlighted the events while also creating a wonderful, yet dangerous, world to get lost in.

This novel is very hot. Phillips’ erotic scenes were both emotionally poignant and extremely hot. Not only did they leave me swooning, but they also added to the relationship between the characters. The relationship between the main characters wasn’t made easier through this, but it was definitely made hotter.

I loved the star crossed lovers aspect to this story. It was a whole lot of fun getting to know the main characters as they became further acquainted with each other. The mixing of personalities and of cultures was very poignant.

This scorching hot novel is a fantastic introduction to Phillips’ series. I definitely wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others.

Carys has often secretly watched the man that comes to the waterfall, even though she knows that they can never meet. Wanting him will have to be enough, as their dangerous world would forever keep them apart. For Carys is a powerful Druid, forced to hide in the hills as the strength of the Roman Empire tries to destroy everything she holds dear. And the man who has stolen her breath is a Roman Soldier, born to conquer and take what he wants. But when Carys unexpectedly finds herself in his arms, he is everything she has ever dreamed of, and so different from what she thought a Roman would be. But he must never find out what she is...

Maximus is captivated by Carys, his little wood nymph, as soon as he sets eyes on her. But as he gets to know her passion for her people, her stubbornness, and her intelligence, he falls even more deeply for her. Wanting to protect Carys, he is frustrated by her demands that she remain in the hills. But with a High Druid intent on taking Carys for himself, danger starts to close in around them. Will he be able to save the woman who has worked her way into his soul? And can they find a way to bridge the gap between opposing sides in this epic battle for love?

FORBIDDEN by Christina Phillips is the first instalment in The Druid Chronicles Series. I was drawn to both of the main characters for their inner strength and determination to do what is right for their people, and their passionate need for each other. Their tale of forbidden love is effortlessly woven with historical detail and imagery to create a beautiful picture for the reader. Now be warned, this book is hot, with plenty of steamy scenes to raise your temperature!!! With danger from every side, this love story really got under my skin, and I am eagerly awaiting the next in the series.
