I have read 4 of these so far. They are entertaining short stories.
The Highlander's Hidden Heart - 5 Stars -Jackson and Rora's story, I thoroughly enjoyed! It is about a young boy's promise to a very young lass. This young boy goes on to be a successful Knight. He is ambitious and still wants to see the world. He returns home to be reminded of his boyhood word. This is a real dilemma for him. Decisions need to be made. Forbidden things to consider, as well. Paths are never straight... Sometimes obstacles veer us in different directions...Or is it that Fate creates our best path? A story of hope, love and devotion that knows no station.
Laird of Twilight - 4 Stars - Dirk MacDougal, Lord of the Isles and Lady Lilias Cameron meet in order to fulfill a treaty alliance. He is to escort to his enemy, "a woman of worth, of beauty, and strength of blood.". His mother and grandmother mother chose to well in his opinion.
Lilias, knows she should hate the man who is delivering her to someone cruel, old and mean. Instead she is very attracted to him. She is reminded of a childhood prophecy that was forseen for her future..."He is dark of hair, stormy eyes, fiercer than the wickedest gale storm and he commands Twilight.
Across a Windswept Isle by Terri Brisbin - This story left my heart squeezed up. It took hold of my heart and had me weeping. It was such a very sad story from the first page, but one that has you rooting for a happy ever after with all your heart. It has been a bit since a story has impacted my sadness meter to this level. I loved it. Lachlan MacLean and Ailis MacKinnon will stay with you well after you have finished. A tale of tragedy, Fate and the true power of love.
4 Stars - The Highlander's Iron Will - Amy Jarecki - I really enjoyed the plot of this story. I was practically on the edge of my seat wanting to know what would happen next. What orders would be received. Keir Campbell was such an honorable man and Skye of Clan Iain Abrach was a very strong and witty lass. These two are for all intensive purposes... enemies. But in the Highlands there was such a thing as "Highland Hospitality". On a night this clan must extend that hospitality to the Redcoats.
The development of the hero and heroine's romantic relationship was set at a very good pace. I truly enjoyed it. I loved the secondary characters as well. I laughed out loud with Thomas and I cringed with some of the other characters.
I will update as I continue with the other stories.
Two favorites were:
" The Laird of Twilight" by Eliza Knight is sooo good. It's the story of two people, Laird Dirk and Lady Lilias. The Laird is tasked with delivering Lilias to his enemy, Magnus, so she can be his bride. Lilias is a "gift", the perfect bride meant as a peace offering to prevent ongoiǹg war between Dirk's clan and Magnus' people. But Lilias is perfect for whom? Can Dirk just hand her over to another man after he meets this woman who makes his heart race every time he looks at her? Will he risk war for love?
"The Highlander's Hidden Heart" by Kathryn LeVeque has such a sweetness to it. Two children in the same village, Jackston and Lizelle, are playmates. 'Lizzie' extracts a child's promise from 'Jackie'. Years later, after Jackston has been out in the world and become a man, and a celebrated knight, he comes home. Does the man keep a boy's promise?
Is there something more his hidden heart truly desires? Does he find it in the eyes of another? This is a lovely story, and yet it also asks a question of honor. I loved it.
This bundle is WELL worth the time and has great stories and was perfect for my rainy afternoon! I highly recommend!
My reviews are for Kathryn Le Veque, Violetta Rand and Collette Cameron
The Highlander’s Hidden Heart, by Kathryn Le Veque, is the story of Jackston who became betrothed at the age of twelve to Lizelle aged nine. Thirteen years later, Jack needs to come back home and face the consequence of his promise. However, along the way, he meets a sweet and kind hearted Rora, and becomes a forbidden love for him. Which women will he choose, Lizelle or Rora?
Between a Scot and his Lady, by Violetta Rand, is Darach and Elle’s own story. What happens when a Scot falls in love with a Viking woman? Darach, son of the Chieftain of Clan Dunam More, lived in peace in his village, until he heard the horn sound of an approaching enemy – a Viking ship! That’s when he discovered a young woman on board, alone and scared. Is she a slave, a noble lady, a true Scot?? As he gets to know her, Darach will become Elle’s protector! This is truly a tale of forbidden love! This novella is the prequel of Ms. Rand new series Highland Rebels. I’m really excited to read the full length story in her new series!
To Love A Highland Rogue, by Collette Cameron is the beautiful Scottish tale of Logan and Mayra. When Logan was young, he was ordered by the king, to be betrothed to Mayra. Just follow their journey filled of twists and turns! They were meant for each other, against all odds!
This is a great story about children growing up together. Jackson want to be a knight, Lizzie wants everything her way. A childhood promise is given by Jackson but only to please Lizzie. After being away for several years Jackson comes home and his problems begin!
Eliza Knights " The Laird of Twilight "
Another great story by Eliza Knight! A Laird must take a chosen lady to his enemy so that peace would come to their people. It doesn't work, Laird Dirk falls in love with Lady Lilly's and he knows the the enemy destroy her independence and spirit. I would recommend this book to find out what happens!!
