I just don't like to read that and wish a reviewer could have saved me from time wasted, in my opinion
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
Where to start. I would give this book 3.5 to 4 stars. It had a really good potential to be an amazing book, but I just couldn't get a real feeling of the main characters.
Dorsey, is running away from her tragic past and unhappy break-up. She moves to Indigo Island to ensure no one knows her and no one has any knowledge of the scandal that was part of her childhood years. She loves children and is employed as head of children club in one of the resorts on the Island. There she meets Jack, handsome lifeguard and a man with his own demons.
Jack, is a lifeguard in the resort, who after summer passes will be employed in the management. He is trying to gain experience and open in the future his own hotel. He wants to make his mother proud and also pay her back for the tragedy he thinks he caused years ago.
Both of them feel the pull towards each other, but they have one person who is oppose their relationship: Steve, manager of the resort, who is all about following the policy. They don't know that there is more to him, something that is dark and dangerous.
I liked the story, but it left me a bit unsatisfied. I would like to know what caused Steve to be the person he was.
Lines in the Sand is a a wonderful book with writing that made it easy for me to visualize the beautiful scenery. The characters Dorsey and Jack had instant sizzling chemistry from the beginning that was especially noticed by their creepy boss Steve..
Little camper Tade was such a sweet smart little guy. I didn't want this book to end !!!
Dorsey is looking for a new start in life and she is sure she found her dream job working at a kid club's in a Top Club resort on Indigo Island but as soon as she arrives she find out that her boss Steve is not nice at all and that it's going to be very hard to work with him.
Jack has been working at Top Club on Indigo Island for 5 summers and Steve promised him a management position which he really need in order to help his mother with her house payments.
Both Jack and Dorsey are not looking for a relationship and they know how hard it will be to date and be together on the Island with Steve watching their every move, but in the end they can't control the strong chemistry and attraction between them and they start dating.
I had a few problems with the book, first the character of Steve was over the top evil and mean and I just felt yucky every time I read about him, especially when he always tried to touch and be near Dorsey.
Second, I didn't really feel the strong connection between Jack and Dorsey and since it was mentioned a few times that Jack is ladies man I found it strange that he was so attracted to Dorsey and was willing to risk his job to be with her.
Third, the suspense plot was very obvious and I didn't feel like it added to the story.
I did enjoy reading about Tade, one of the kids that was at the Kids Club. I also enjoyed reading about the history of the Island.
I really wanted to enjoy Line in the Sand more but sadly the book didn't work for me for the start.
Return to Indigo Island with Dorsey and Jack's story.
Dorsey and Jack both work at a summer island resorts where employee relationships are not allowed. This is a major problem since the sparks fly instantly.
Dorsey is 26 and excited to have a fresh start from her heartbreak and tragedy. She signs the no romantic relationship with other staff members clause when she starts her job at Melrose Inn. She is determined to focus on her job and not any relationship. She sees the sexy lifeguard, Jack, and the attraction is instant.
Jack is 27 and in line for a management position at Top Corp. He is life-guarding at Melrose Inn to make sure he gets his promotion. He has also signed the no romantic relationship clause. He sees Dorsey, and even though he tries to keep it casual, she is impossible to ignore. She is pretty and outgoing. Dating her could get him fired.
Can Jack ignore the feelings he has for Dorsey? Can he walk away from her?
Can Dorsey be the woman who can keep his heart and allow him to heal?
This is a wonderful 2nd story in the Indigo Island Romance series. It was fun, flirty and romantic. I enjoyed it and how the sparks flew between Dorsey and Jack.
