Diego is her Professor and seems to have a talent for picking women with no substance. From the moment, he saw Violet he was instantly attracted to her and assumed that she was no different from all the women he had been attracted to before her.
He decides to keep his distance however the more he gets to know the smart sensitive woman underneath her beauty everything changes and they know that acting on these feelings could destroy their careers. They start out as friends which develops into much more and Diego is patient as her experience with men is very limited and he wants her to be sure. Will they be able to overcome the age difference, their pasts and the opinions of others and realize that all that really matters is how they feel about each other?
The characters are strong and determined, their chemistry hot and their ability to overcome obstacles inspiring. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Violet Carmichael is a student at Tulane to bring her dream of becoming an architect to life and work with her father and grandfather. Not having time for anything else, she keeps her focus on her school work. That's when she meets Professor Torres, who not only exceeds his reputation of being one of the toughest teachers, but threatens Violet's focus by being the hardest on her.
Diego Torres knows he's being a jerk by how hard he's on Violet, but to him that serves two purposes. One he loves to challenge her as she gives as much as she takes. He knows she's very smart and talented and wants to make sure she succeeds. Two, he feels this pull toward her that he seems not to be able to calm. So what better way to push her away that making her hate him. Diego hasn't had the best luck choosing women, and seeing as Violet is his student only seems to make him realize how bad his judgment is. But the more time he spends with her the harder it is to fight their attraction to each other.
Is what they feel for each other strong enough against everyone who threatens not only their relationship but also their professional lives?
I really enjoyed Forbidden Love. It is a sweet standalone love story that makes you feel how close both of their families are. Violet's friend Dani also brought alot to this story and I hope to hear her story sometime. I think she deserves her own HEA. That scene at the funeral when they were showing the slideshow really brought on the feels for me. The only thing for me personally is that I think I got a little spoiled by book 1 and 2 on the action part that I was expecting a little more of it on this book too. But it didn't take away from the story itself at all. Definitely recommend to get to know this big happy family that'll make you wish you were part of.
“Hot student teacher romance, 5 stars”
Forbidden Love has two of my favorite elements for a story, a forbidden romance and dual language. Sometimes student-teacher romance stories start to read the same, but I never got that from Forbidden Love.
Lets start with our heroine Violet, shes brilliant, beautiful, and sure of herself. Violet much like myself rather spend time at home with her family than out at a club. In Forbidden Love you really see her transform as a character. Violet becomes more sure of who she is as a woman and what she desires with a little help from Diego.
Diego is from Spain and finds himself as one of Violets professors. At first he falls into lust with her beauty then her mind. When he actually gets to know her he easily tumbles into love with her, so much so that he speaks a mix of Spanish and English to her. Which is hot, one of my favorite things is when Authors do pet names or whatever you want to call them in a different language than the rest of the book.
Diego have many obstacles ahead of them. Not just with the school, but with family, and their age differences. He was a player where she was the good girl. Diego feels Violet could do better, she disagrees. Sh*t will hit the fan and enemies will come to the surface. The question is can they make it?
All the characters in Forbidden Love flow together seemlessly. This is the third book in the Love Stings series. It is a stand alone so you don’t need to read the ones that come before it. But if you do then some of those characters make small appearances.
Here are a couple pieces from the story that for some reason stuck to me or made me smile;
“My dad has treated my mom like a queen for as long as I can remember. Hell, he’s treated all of us girls like queens, and he’s had four women looking after him too. Will it be worth it to pursue this even if it’s a secret?”
“The ping of my buttons hitting the wall echoes through the apartment. That one simple movement causes something to awaken inside of me.”
Writing style- 5/5
