I can absolutly associate with the lead character and a contributing fact might be im born 13:13, lived on a street in house number 13, postalcode ending in...13.. needless to say i cracked a whole lot of smiles in recognition. I warmly recommend this book as a out of the ordinary supernaturally unique read in all the best ways.
My opinion and unbiased review is a matter of integrity. I was given this book as an ARC, in exchange for a impartial opinion. This does not change, impair, steer or in any way change or influence what my opinion is or What is said in my review.
Aria Elle walker has really bad luck with the number 13. She just can't seem to get away from that number. On Friday the 13th, Aria arrives home, and finds a bounty hunter in her home. She accidentally kills him. But not too far behind, Ronan Riley walks in, and tells her she's in danger and they need to leave. Ronan's dad has sent bounty hunters out to capture Aria. She is a key
for the gateway that will allow magic back into the world. Aria thought she only has telekinesis, but come to find out, she is a lot more powerful than anyone ever knew, including herself.
This was an exciting read. I loved that Aria was discovering more and more about her powers. It has quite a bit of action, and keeps you wanting to flip the pages. I stayed up late just to read one more page, and then one more, and one more. :) I can't wait to read more in the series.
In that time we get an adventure, magic, romance, and plots upon plots. One can never know till the end who is on which side and where to put your trust.
Truly this was a well written and inviting story with all the fantasy elements one could want.
Reviewed for myths and magic as well as here.
This story started off with a bang and kept my attention through the entire story. The characters were well written. Some you liked immediately and some you weren't sure which side they were really on. Some you weren't sure you could trust until the end of the story. I really liked the way "unlucky 13" kept coming up in the story. It added a lot of interest. I would certainly recommend this to anyone that likes urban fantasy.
I love the depth of characters and the interactions that mimics life as both good and bad in each playing off each other.
The story is easy to follow and has you turning page after page.
Cannot wait for book 2
