About the uniqueness of this blade, here's what makes it stand out: It has a very linear, straight design at a time when so many knives are very organic and curved in shape. The split/gapped blade is also very cool, making this knife stand out. And then the "joker" text on the blade is distinct (UPDATE: it's actually a reference to the Batman movie with Heath Ledger, his final film, as he uses a knife like this in the movie). And as I mention in my video, the spring is very lively, flipping the blade out with great speed.
This is definitely one of the longer blades I carry with me on a regular basis. If you're looking for something shorter, then this knife may not be for you -- it's no box-cutter. Also note that the blade is not serrated. For me, this is ideal because I hate struggling through the sharpening procedure on a serrated knife. This straight blade can easily be sharpened with a two-stage sharpener, which is the way go.
So overall, I think this is a sweet deal and fun to own and use. Many more expensive knives are certainly worth it, but I think you get a lot of blade for the buck in this knife.
This product was NOT given to me as part of any promotion. I bought it after doing some comparison shopping and this review is entirely the result of my own opinions and use of the product.
The center of the blade has a cutout running for about 80% of the blade length. This is in place of a traditional blood groove. Despite its size, it does not lessen the strength of the blade one bit but makes a noticeable improvement in the knife's overall weight
Finally, because I'm left-handed, I cannot easily remove a knife from my pocket and open the blade that has its pocket clip at the bottom end of the blade. This knife has the clip up at the point of the blade meaning that the flipper is at the bottom of my pants pocket. This allows me to easily remove the knife and turn it over to engage the flipper with my left-hand forefinger.
HATE the way it falls apart and all screws come loose and fall out after months of basic use. Not heavy or daily use, just regular average pocket knife use.
Cheap quality and craftsmanship.
You get what you pay for.
So I recommend a Schrade blade.
