This novel is my way of giving back to my country. I've never served in our armed forces and that bothers me. I wanted, therefore, to do something deeply patriotic that might, in some small way, contribute to the health and survival of our great republic.

Being a lawyer who has read a bit of constitutional law, I desired to engage characters in such a way as to illuminate certain aspects of our current governance that reflect vast departures from what the Founding Fathers intended, and which create many, if not most, of the economic and political problems we have today.

Accordingly, you will find discussions on a number of seminal US Supreme Court decisions as well as a theory of judicial review derived from John Hart Ely's, "Democracy and Distrust," which, by the way, I believe may have informed Chief Justice Roberts in his recent ruling in NFIB v. Sebelius.

I read my reviews and I have noticed a few people have been more than a little upset by characters who are not politically correct. One rather colorful person has even asserted that I am advocating violence against the US as well the murder of minorities (both of which, of course, would constitute federal crimes).

A couple of interesting patters have emerged with the reviews that deserve mention.

First, none of the negative reviews are from people who have actually read the whole book. This is important because much happens in later chapters. Secondly, two reviewers changed their opinions when they had read the whole story.

Mr. Bill Woosley, with whom I'm forging a friendship, said this:

"In the end I would raise my opinion to a 4 instead of a 2 ... Anyway, my first review was not fair, this is a fun read and I offer my apologies to Mr. Reddy."

It is nice to see that, in America, truth usually carries the day. It is also nice to see that people still have the integrity to admit they may have been mistaken. Those are the type of men who have made this country the greatest in the world.

Anyhow, suffice it to say, this is a very conservative story. It's message is one of reverence for the Constitution, our free enterprise system, and common sense. Leftists and the politically correct will have a hard time watching their sacred cows being taken apart piece by piece.

About the Author

Mr. Reddy received his BA from Michigan State University and his law degree from The University of Michigan Law School (but his blood runs Spartan green!). A graduate of Gunsite Training Center and numerous firearm and self defense classes, he has taught the lawful use of deadly force for over 10 years. Mr. Reddy’s interests include golf, table tennis, cross country skiing, cycling, playing guitar, building acoustic guitars, woodworking, and impersonating the Big Bopper on karaoke night. He currently lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with his two miniature schnauzers, Elsie and Ellie Mae.

Truth in labeling

I was looking for a good novel about taking back our country, the Patriot movement, something to escape into that would hold my interest, something Rawles-esque. Sadly, this is not it. It's a rambling disjointed monologue about various court cases poorly woven into a barely believeable set of characters. Chaarcters are poorly developed except for the hopelessly neurotic Anne who wakes up from her depression one day and suddenly marches off to U of M law school. If you want to learn about some seminal cases that have affected our republic, this may be for you. But if you want a good fiction work that holds you attention page after page, this isn't it.

Legal Brief on Constitutional Precedents

This novel is basically a monologue on the erosion of the U.S. Constitution. As such, it does a good job of
citing court cases and documents pertaining to such landmark cases as Marbury vs. Madison. It goes into great
depth about the intentions of the Framers, and gives specific historic examples...all suitably referenced. If
you are unfamiliar with the precedents that have moved our Nation to it's current state, "By Force of
Patriots" is a good reference work. Due to my own bias, I would recommend a careful reading of this book.

Mr. Reddy obviously understood that, in order to get people to read this book, he was going to have to submit
it as a work of fiction. As a result, there is a somewhat disjointed story that, IMO, was basically shoved
into the cracks between the legal points of his argument.

Given what I believe is the undeniable fact that the entire book is published as a vehicle for his viewpoint
and opinions, I would give this work 5 stars for educational content. However, I can only give it 1, or
perhaps 2, for the story. This is how I came up with 3 stars as my overall opinion.

If you're looking for a fun, fast-paced read for a rainy Saturday, this isn't the book. To both read and
comprehend, you'll need to spend some time with it. I would also recommend the book because, regardless of
your political leanings, it will make you THINK.

Difficult to read every page

Mr. Reddy has written about what he knows. Some spoilers follow. The problem is not all readers are interested in the subject matter presented. If you are a law student or lawyer you would probably love every page. I had to skip some of the legal arguments as I didn't find them too interesting.
The characters were interesting ,but Anne, a total nutcase is a woman to be avoided by any man. She goes from an over the edge Prosac dependent psycho to a together confident woman in just a few months time. Sorry, the real world does not work that way. The ending of the book was a little disappointing as the politicians gave in and allowed the patriots to "win" In the real (our) world, our US politicians, a group of narcissistic, corrupt and criminal fools would never acknowledge a patriot group as being worth the time to listen to. Clearly the only way our country will survive is for our current state governments to violently succeed from the US and invalidate all the laws and regulations being forced on the states. its has been said that "Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun." We shall see how this quote reflects the mindset of patriots now living in the US. I do not advocate violence, but I fear it is the only way our country may survive, just like it did in the book .

Whereas I have not yet completed the book, it is very interesting..there is much information which would have taken me hours to pursue and locate, it is set in a time period just ahead of us but with potential for the various things to actually happen. I am pleased with the writing, enjoy the fact that it is fiction, a small romance involvement makes it intriguing and I like the interplay between the characters. Highly recommend BY FORCE OF PATRIOTS by Cameron Reddy.

UPDATE: I just finished Mr. Reddy's book! It is truly an interesting story line. It kept me intrigued and on the edge of my seat especially as the end got closer. A romance and a thriller. Great writing, great story. Obviously he did lots of research to complete this tale. A must read for conservatives all over! Once again I highly recommend BY FORCE OF PATRIOTS by Cameron Reddy! Overall this is a good book, well written, and detailed. The single thing that took points away is this: The endless meanderings through Anne Kreig's poor little psyche as to why she was such a lost loser, drunk, depressed, divorced, failure of a person. It was annoying to read, not plausible that her awakening fueled by a few romps in the hay with a "Professor" and suddenly the angst turns to steel and action. No, if I was to recommend this book to anyone I would edit out all of the A.K. mind b.s first. It added absolutely nothing to the overall story line, and I fell like I was being force fed someone's overdue descriptive writing assignment they forgot to turn in back during their 1st semester at the Big Boys/Girls school.

By Force of Patriots was a very entertaining book, not a 'could not put it down' but rather a very good interesting fictional book. It is based and premised on many current events and the possibilities of future events, I enjoyed it.
Because I am not a literary proof reader, most of the grammatical errors were simply over looked. One issue that did 'bother' me was the lack of capitalization of abbreviations which were used extensively in this writing.
I would recommend this highly, great story line, presented well, character development was good and all in all it was a very entertaining book.
Is this not what we purchase these readings for?
Go ahead and purchase the book, it is highly doubtful that you will be disappointed.
