The Ford by Dahon Convertible is as much a legend as the Mustang Convertible that it is named after. This impressive ride features a strong and durable yet lightweight aluminum frame. The Convertible is fully decked out with fenders to keep you clean and dry, lightweight yet powerful alloy V-brakes for superior stopping power and a rear rack to haul all your gear. This bike comes in two versions, the 1.0 single speed for your rides around town or, for the more adventurous, the 2.0 featuring genuine Shimano 7 speed to get you where you need to go. The technology behind this precision bike allows you to fold it in seconds, making it perfect for taking and storing anywhere; under your office desk, on mass transit trips, in the trunk of your car or simply stored in a space saving location. And of course, its designed and built by Dahon; innovators and builders of high quality folding bikes with decades of proven reliability, quality and expertise. The Convertible: big speed, grand elegance and high precision all in a small package. You will have to ride to believe it. Search Ford by Dahon on Amazon for a full listing of Ford by Dahon bikes. She hasn't ridden a bike in 40 years so she may have to work on getting her sense of balance back. There are so many choices out there and we generally go with the best reviews on Amazon which works almost every time. It is a beautiful red bike...
The one draw back is that there is no owners manual. The bike comes with a short 'pictograph' set up sheet, nowhere enough for the long term.
If you have concerns with the packaging, don't. This thing is packed to go to the moon! I had one small problem with set up and they have an 800 number with excellent customer service.
I am a multi-decade bike touring/commuting/club ride vet. At 80+ with minor balance problems I am down to rides on the city green belt and some trips to Rails-to-trails rides. But I still know good gear when I see it.
I won't bore with Amazon's shipping screw up which has nothing do do with the bike itself or the seller.
Edit: screw obtained and fitted, thanks.
Edit: I've been using the bike for a while now. The small wheels take some getting used to if you're used to a regular-sized bike. The ride is a little harsh: small tires at high pressure and a hard seat will do that. The bike itself looks well-made. The brakes work well, and the gears didn't need any adjustments. It's very handy for what I use it for: parking and then cycling work across town.
I can't complain. You can fold the bike ! and it fits easily into my A3 hatch.. I can easily explore bigger parks.
My only complaint would be that the way it naturally folds ends up stressing the back brake, so it tends to need to be tightened.
Also, the bike comes with tires not fully inflated, so have a pump on hand if you plan on riding this as soon as you get it.
