I had a chance to get a new manifold to replace a suspected problem with my intake (which was working fine) and originally bought a Dorman unit. The first Dorman unit arrived quickly, but had a broken plastic piece, causing a return and replacement of the manifold- I installed the manifold, learning that no gaskets were needed and the injectors and spark plug retaining holes were of the self-tapping style. Also I learned that the access to the spark plugs was compromised after installation - so the next guy working on the plugs was going to have an issue!. After installing it and starting the engine, smoke poured out the back and that was curtains for that engine- so when I decided to have a used engine installed this Ford Motorsport manifold was highly talked about on the web, so I got it and had it installed on the replacement engine- When I received it, it had all the proper inserts for the injector and coil screws. A better unit overall- and will maintain the power for your PI (Performance Improved) engine post 2001... You just need a intake manifold gasket set and a new thermostat and gasket. Be careful connecting the heater hose connection though.. Do not overtighten...

I ordered this item after researching all over the place about these manifold's and took a chance. The manifold is identical to my stock manifold on my 2002 Mustang GT 4.6L. It has the logo Ford stamped in the same place as my stock one. I installed it on 7/24/14 and car is now on the road. I put new head gaskets that I ordered, new Injector Orings that I ordered and new antifreeze. It is running great and no leaks. Everything fit perfectly back as OEM parts would. This manifold does not require the alternator brackets because it is made for 99-04 mustangs and they fit right in. I watched several videos on YouTube and I was able to do this job without a problem. It's actually not that hard to do if you have some mechanical abilities. As of now, it is running great and no more leaks. I will be updating this post later if anything changes with the intake. The only thing that was a negative was the 2 weeks of waiting for the intake to come in. I took my car apart and had to wait a long time to get the intake. I guess it's worth the wait for this intake. I had called the Ford dealer and they wanted $700 for the one from there. So to sum it up, this is worth it. As for people saying you get more horsepower and better gas mileage, we will see. I don't have a way to test the horsepower but I don't notice any difference in power and about the gas mileage, I will be checking on that as soon as I fill up the tank and track my mileage use.

UPDATE
Today is 9/20/14 and I have filled up my 2002 Ford Mustang GT and here are the gas mileage results. I always zero in my odometer and I was getting 267 miles per tank. As of today, I've been getting about 290 per tank so it did make a difference on the gas mileage. I also noticed my RPMS to be lower at a higher speed.

This manifold is the best replacement you can get for a 4.6 without stepping up to an aluminum intake for 600 dollars more. Install was smooth and my car has been running great for the last 1k miles since its install.

If you replace your make sure you replace the o-rings for the fuel injectors!!!! You will regret it if you don't.

As stated, its a great replacement. Exceptional quality and fitment with ZERO issues. great if you have a mustang or any 4.6L that's leaking coolant due to cracking under the thermostat housing like mine was. Not to mention this one was actually cheaper than the dorman brand.(which is known to have fitment issues) ALSO don't forget to get your replacement intake gaskets. I made the foolish mistake of reusing my gaskets because they "looked'' okay. save your self the hassle, do it right the first time and you will be satisfied. once again a great product.

Ford made a major mistake when they made this intake. The plastic heater nipple broke off of no less than THREE different intakes on me. Then the replacements would break off too. There is no way I can give such a poor design 5 stars but as far as intakes goes this one from Ford Racing (this is a genuine Ford intake) is as good as you can ask for. I put it on a 2002 Lincoln Town Car 4.6 and it fixed my problems for now.

Bought this for my 2006 crown victoria interceptor. Same issue old one was leaking a little around the t-stat area. Instant power once installed 3-4 hours labor. Just make sure you clean everything up before you reinstall. also if you havnt thought about it buy some replacement o-rings for your injectors to be safe and clean the jets on them too. Might aswell do an oil change aswell. Give your plenum a nice deep clean with a semi hard brissel brush DO NOT USE STEEL! Once your done show your car some love with a bottle of seafoam in the gas tank...

I already had a plastic Ford intake with the aluminum crossover installed on my car when I got it, but it was cracked at the rear heater hose fitting (apparently a common problem), and since this costs the same as or less than a standard non-PI intake, I figured it was a perfect time to upgrade.

Bolted right on to my '96 Mustang GT 4.6L without any issues ... at least as far as the intake manifold itself was concerned. Getting that stupid water pump nipple out of the block so I could install the newer-style water pump nipple and heater hose pipe was a whole other nightmare - stupid thing was practically fused in there, had to chisel it out in little chunks. Again, my car already had the aluminum crossover on it, but the '96-'98 models had an extra sensor hole that this intake's crossover doesn't have, so I just unbolted it from the old intake and transferred it over to the new one - everything fit perfectly, O-rings are perfectly fine, no leaks at all.

As long as you use '99-'04 style PI intake manifold gaskets and put a glob of blue RTV silicone at the front-driver's side and rear-passenger's side gaps in the intake, this PI intake will bolt right onto your non-PI heads without any problems. Not a HUGE improvement in power, but I can definitely feel and HEAR a difference above 3k RPM - exhaust sounds more raspy at higher RPM's now, and the pull is more linear throughout the top end instead of dropping off above 4.5k RPM like it used to.
