Product Description

IMPORTANT: Use Forearm Forklift branded products when you move heavy furnishings. Forearm Forklift Lifting Straps are ergonomically designed to encourage proper body mechanics and lifting techniques and are OSHA accepted to help reduce back injuries due to heavy and repetitive lifting. The straps employ leverage which makes the items being carried seem up to 66 percent lighter. This makes the item easier to carry, go up and down stairs, and turn corners. Forearm Forklift Lifting and Moving Straps are easy to use. Crisscross straps underneath the item being moved, this will provide 8 points of contact support for balance and stability to securely move the item without tipping, put forearms through one of the arm hole loops and stand up. Forearm Forklift Lifting Straps save floors from scratches, scuffs and scrapes that hand dollies leave behind. Each of the straps are 9’ 4” (284.48 cm) long and 3" wide for comfort and strength. Each strap has 3 preset arm hole loops at each end. The loops offer 12 position combinations and allow up to 48” (121.92 cm) of length adjustment to carry medium (MED), large (LG), extra-large (XL) and XX-large (XXL) items. For oversized items or when more strap length is required add 3' 6" (42 inches) of additional strap length with Forearm Forklift Extension EXT (sold separately). These strong straps are rated to support up to 800 pounds. Forearm Forklift Lifting Straps are affordable, safe, ergonomic, adjustable and portable. A great way to move something heavy IF you're careful

When lifting something heavy and awkward like a washer/dryer or couch, two of the main limitations are grip strength and ergonomics. You have to lean WAY over to get your hands under the edge of the thing. Once you lift it, the small muscles of your hands and forearms can become the limiting factor as they fatigue. Then it's time to find a place to put whatever you're carrying down-- and in a hurry-- before gravity makes the decision for you.

These straps do a couple of things. First, they redistribute the load to your upper forearm, removing grip strength as a limitation. Second, they increase leverage by applying the force further up your arms (IE closer to your shoulders). Less torque is applied to the shoulder, which means your delts and the other smallish muscles of your shoulders don't have to work as hard. Third, they improve ergonomics in many cases (such as carrying a couch or love seat) by allowing you to walk more upright, imparting less torque on the lower back. Fourth, they allow you to use your hands almost exclusively to stabilize the object, which gives better overall control.

What you're really doing with these is taking a lot of small muscles out of the picture, allowing some of the larger leg and back muscles to do the work. This is a double-edged sword, because it allows you to lift things that are heavier than you normally would. If your back, shoulders, and arms can handle it, no problem. However, if they can't...

This happened to me. A family member and I tried to lift a pull-out couch with a steel bed frame built into it. This thing was pretty heavy, I'd guess in the 300+ lb. range, and awkward. We lifted it, but after walking a few feet with it we realized that we were setting ourselves up for an injury. Heavy objects still have lots of inertia, so while you might be able to lift and walk with something like a heavy couch, you have much less safety margin if it wobbles, if someone slips, etc. In our case, we had to walk down a few steps with this couch, and there's no way the person in the lead would have been able to control the weight once it shifted toward them. We realized this and switched to furniture dollies before anyone got hurt.

This is where you have to be careful. Lift something that's too heavy and you'll be in deep trouble if the weight shifts or if you stumble. Also, you might be able to lift something with a high center of gravity (like an upright refrigerator) but you won't be able to control it if it begins to tip. Finally, you'll be limited by the strength of the weaker person doing the lifting. If one person is significantly stronger than the other, you need to be aware of it and accommodate the difference.

This is an excellent tool if you keep a comfortable safety margin between both lifters' physical limitations and the amount of weight to move. It's really valuable for keeping fatigue to a minimum while lifting moderately heavy loads. However, you have to be careful not to get in over your head. If it feels too heavy even with these straps, there's a good chance that it is.

Just like another reviewer I had to order this twice because the first one I received from the seller hlandert-au was a cheap knock off.

After returning the knock off and ordering again - this time choosing to order from Amazon US at greater cost - I got the genuine item.

The genuine straps are good quality and work well. There is nice soft padding in the loops (where the knock off just used black webbing) and the strap used is nice and wide at 3" (unlike the knock off which was under 2").

The strapping also uses a nice sturdy weave, definitely much better in every way than the knock off versions and worth the extra.

They work well. One thing to be mindful of though is that the instructions warn against exposing them to UV or high temperatures else the straps will weaken. If you live somewhere hot like us in northern Queensland, you don't want to go leaving them in the back of a ute or inside a vehicle. They need to be stored somewhere air conditioned and out of the sun.
