I was looking for a solution to store/hide my old school SNES, NES, N64 and games in the media room, yet have a solution aesthetically pleasing enough to get the lady's approval. I only had a small amount of space, and these were the only furniture i found that fit perfectly. So i purchased a few different pieces of Foremost modular storage, and it worked for that purpose perfectly!
Assembly:
I had no problem putting these bad boys together. Took only a few minutes, and they look great! Few of the reviewers for other Foremost furniture, mentioned holes not lining up, etc. I had no problems on mine. The only issue i had was the small dowels when stacking the units. Those didnt fit quite right, and had to modify, but they give you multiple mounting options, so not a huge deal. Wouldnt dock a full point for that, though...maybe half
Build quality:
They are light and easy to move, but they dont FEEL durable, and only time will tell. But until something breaks, i'll give it the benefit of the doubt and wont dock a star in this category. I do like the lightweight hollow core, solid wood build concept. The finish seems to be pretty durable, and no marks were seen after i dropped a few things on it accidentally during construction.
Packaging: Loved it! Simple, and 100% recyclable with the compressed paper inserts. No styro waste, and all 4 units arrived undamaged, even though 2 of the boxes looked a little beaten in shipping.
Price and Value: I've purchased heavy duty steel shelving, book shelves, glass/steel entertainment shelves, etc that felt like they were much higher quality for the amount of storage these 4 units combined offered. At 20+bucks a pop, they are functional, and look nice....but slightly overpriced. I would have found another solution if available, but hey...it met the need at the time. Would not buy again for storage solution, unless price dropped a bit.
Overall: If this perfectly fits your need, it definitely works as a modular storage option, with easy assembly, and decent build quality/durability(so far!). I wouldnt tempt fate and stack anything too heavy on/in them, though. Can any others who purchased these attest to their strength/durability?
