All Pepper needs is a little experience. Ever since she was a teenager, she has been in love with Hunter, the brother of her best friend, Lila, but he thinks of her as merely a good friend. When Pepper discovers that Hunter has just broken up with his longtime girlfriend, she realizes that if she wants to hook up with Hunter, it is now or never. The problem is that Pepper has kissed exactly one boy in her entire life. Of course her friends have a solution to her problem: Reece, a hottie bartender at Mulvaney’s, whose romantic reputation is legendary. All Pepper needs to do is get Reece to give her a few lessons in seduction, and she can apply what she learns to finally land Hunter. At least that is the plan until Pepper discovers that she might be falling for her new teacher. Pepper had a pretty messed up childhood. She had a mother and father and they seemed happy. But when her father was killed in the military, her mother just pretty much lost it. They moved around all the time living in the cars or staying in motels. Her mother did drugs and such but she tried to protect Pepper by hiding her in closets or bathrooms and keeping her away from the men she hooked up with. But one day one found her and the mother didn't think she could protect her any longer so she took Pepper to her father's mother and left her there. She ended up growing up in a retirement village with her grandmother. She had a best friend Lila and her family the Montgomery's had her over a lot and she always dreamed of becoming one with their amazing family. She thinks Hunter's the one for her and she's dreamed of it. She meets Reece at the bar Mulvaney's and she thinks he's the one that hooks up with all types of girls. She wants to be more prepared for Hunter and thinks this is her chance. Reece is gorgeous and not at all like she expected.
Reece runs his family's bar and he feels responsible for his father in a wheelchair. Reece has a younger brother Logan who he has practically raised since their mother died when he was 8 years old. Their father has always been mean and abusive but he's even worse now. Reece is so much older than his 23 years. He doesn't kiss or hook up with just about anyone. There is just something about Pepper that draws him in. He seems like a bad boy with tattoos and all but he's such a good man.
Definitely worth reading.
I can't find the words... <3 Review to come!
My Thoughts (full review):
Okay... SERIOUSLY... This book. OMG. So, when I read the synopsis months ago, I was like, "Must. Get. Hands. On. A. Copy. NOW." Then I saw the release date and freaked out. THEN. I found it on Edelweiss and somehow I managed to get approved. And then I danced. And started reading immediately. I got so sucked into the story that I finished it in nearly record timing.
The way the story begins somehow felt perfect. Once we get to the initial interactions between Reece and Pepper, it was all I could do not to start swooning. As their friendship--and more than friendship--progressed, it was just astounding. I absolutely adored Reece and his sweetness. Watching Pepper become more comfortable with showing affection, there was something just so real about it. How it is brought out and discovered, just... wow.
Of course, there's a complication. The whole point of her learning these things is so she can be with Hunter. They both know it, they both accept it. At least, that's what they keep saying. But can they really?
Foreplay was just one of the best books I've read in awhile. I couldn't stop reading. Just couldn't. And even though I still had the galley on my Nook, I went ahead and preordered so that I could immediately have it once the galley expires. This was my introduction to a Sophie Jordan novel and let me tell you, I am SOOO needing to read more of her books.
My Rating: Exceptional
Pepper is that quiet girl that is easily overlooked. She has little confidence and has no idea what she truly wants with one exception: Hunter. Hunter is her best friend’s brother and growing up around his and his happy family makes her want to be a part of it too. With her friends on board and Hunter newly single they devise a plan to make Pepper noticeable. Her college roommates hear rumors of a Hot Bartender that can show a girl a good time. This is who they choose to teach Pepper how to entice and know the true meaning of Foreplay.
After meeting Reese they are all blown away at how truly gorgeous he is. Peppers is shocked when Reese agrees to help her out with lesions but doesn’t count on the connection they have messing with her plans. When the lesions pay off and Hunter does ask her out, Pepper has some more missions to make. This image of the perfect family is within her grasp but her head and her heart are at war… Find out who she ends up with in the end.
