Forever Doon by Carey Corp and Lorie Langdon – A Review, or in other words, a Thank You At last, it seems like the time to cross the bridge one last time is upon us. It was only three years ago that I was first brought into the world of Doon, filled with action, romance, and by ways of me, Morlocks. Yes, that’s right, I am still talking about them. Just as Kenna and Vee have grown throughout the novels, I have too, beginning in high school and ending in college. Somehow, it feels as though these novels have been timed just right, so that I can grow alongside my favorite pair of fictional best friends. Our leading ladies have matured so much and now face unusual circumstances of adult responsibilities. While my problems don’t consist of running a kingdom (I wish), or saving the day from evil witches (again, wishing), their hardships were relatable in their own sense of newfound responsibilities and the burdens that follow them as emerging adults. My soft spot for this story blooms from just that, all the different obstacles I’ve faced throughout the last few years and how Doon has always happened to be there to cheer me right up, and at just the right time too. While every installment of Doon centers on the same sort of dilemmas, Corp and Langdon always manage to seamlessly recreate them in new and exciting scenarios that play out like nothing before. This is where they usually happen to be ahead of the curb, whereas other series lack in original recreation or different material altogether. In turn of this, these awesome lady writers have no problem targeting every single one of your emotions and charging them at full force. I still remember just how much Destined for Doon played with my head and had me listening to sappy soundtracks for weeks on end. No Doon book has ever failed to make me laugh and cry within the same sitting. Forever Doon doesn’t cut it short, either. In fact, I’d dare to say this is the most emotional installment yet. I’ll go on to admit that the (The Young Folks.com)

One of the coolest additions to the final novel is that it is not only told from Vee's and Kenna's alternating perspectives but Jamie's and Duncan's as well. Which added a sense of family to the book's overall theme as well as friendship.
As it is bittersweet to think that this is the last doon novel, I couldn't have asked for a better ending. It was action and adventure packed with all of the feels that I love about the Doon Series. McKenna's and Veronica's friendship is as strong as ever as they continue to strengthen their relationships they Jamie and Duncan with communication and boundaries. Not to mention that in this novel more then any of the others you really feel their love for Doon and the Doonians as well as their faith in the protector. I only wish for Lorie Langdon and Cary Carey to give us a sneak peek of Jamie, Vee, Duncan and Kenna in the future.
Read on Doonians.
***I received this book in exchange for an honest review***
So yeah, a LOT was going on! And our friends are all separated, Jamie worries about Veronica, despite being held prisoner by the witch and being constantly tortured, Veronica believes that Jamie is dead and poor Duncan and MacKenna have no idea what to think since they're trapped in Scotland with no bridge to take them back to Doon. Hope is lost, until it's not!
Duncan and Kenna and the Doonians work to build the bridge so that they may get back into Doon. And soon, other Destineds are arriving in Scotland. They've had their Calling and they've come to help fight a battle that has yet to start. The heroes have their army, and now it's time to get to the battlefield.
In the meantime, Veronica and her citizens are just trying to stay alive. The witch is a deadly foe indeed. It's soon rumored that Jamie might be alive and it's then that Veronica plans the rescue mission. And soon enough the friends are reunited but there still a battle that must be fought and won or else all of Doon will suffer.
And it's at this point where we start to see problems developing between the couples. Jamie having been tortured is distance, and Duncan who fears for Kenna's safety distances himself from her as well. It's convoluted in some sense, but what can you do? Drama just finds its way into these stories!
But I have to admit, all drama aside this story definitely got exciting! The witch is a dangerous and scary foe. She has no compunctions about fighting dirty and being deceitful. There will be many deaths in this one! It was quite the emotional gut punch! Carey and Lorie pull no punches in this one! It's the final book! The epic showdown will be had before the story is over and there can be only one winner! Will good prevail over evil (as it is always meant to) or will evil finally reign supreme?
Forever Doon was just as magical as all the other books in this series! I've always enjoyed the friendship between Kenna and Veronica! The brotherly bonds between Duncan and Jamie were also enjoyable to read! I think my favorite couple though is Kenna and Duncan! Kenna is a fierce dreamer who's not afraid of fighting for what she believes in, and Duncan is kind of the same. Maybe he's more subdue and trust me, when it was their turn for relationship issues I was both heartbroken and yet trying to tell Kenna to have a little more bite to her. She seemed to have lost her edge when it was her own heart that was hurting, which I guess is understandable.
The ending was beautiful! It could've gone a lot of different ways, but yet I liked how it ended. I thought it was perfect and just...perfect! True, I had a few lingering questions, ones I can't really pose here without giving something away, but in reality they're not questions that will keep me up at night! LOL!
If you love a good fantasy read mixed with a bit of otherworldly travel--as it's not quite time travel--then I highly recommend reading this series! The bonds of friendship is another strong theme to this story with a side of romance, and I must admit that balance was spot on! True, it may be a smidgen cheesy, but we all need cheesy every now and then! I like cheese! LOL!
