I enjoyed Skinny Me a lot and took the chance to nab another book with the same cast while it was on sale for Mother's Day. I could not finish this book. Tl;dr: The old grown child of adopted parents has a 200 page temper tantrum about her birth mother "throwing her away." Even after it's explained that her birth mother was a teenaged orphan who got pregnant by accident and had to choose between the unwanted kid and college. I feel like people who have been adopted or who have adopted kids would find Tracey's ungrateful and childish attitude about "real family" offensive.

Also it's a big thing in the book that Tracey likely has endometriosis and they spend a lot of time harping about how she's probably infertile as a result. Um, endo doesn't typically cause infertility, it causes you to need medical interventions that can cause infertility if you want to have a decent quality of life. Clearly the author didn't bother to consider that someone who has endo might read the book and call out the bad information.

Another great story from Charlene Carr

I received a free advanced reading copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. When I'm reviewing tangible products I disregard every review that includes that statement because I don't think it can possibly be fair and unbiased. However, I feel that a book's value is in a different realm. It's a privilege to receive an advance copy and i would trust other's advance reviews, so I hope you will trus mine too. I have read three other books by Charlene Carr and continue to be impressed by the true and raw emotions she expresses through her characters. This story was a little uncomfortable for me to read because I had experienced issues similar to Tracey's. However that did not detract from the storytelling itself and I thoroughly enjoyed experiencing the roller coaster of emotions and how the characters grew. My only criticism is that the ending felt rushed and some issues felt unresolved. But from the author's note to her readers club, I suspect that some of this issues may resolved in the next book about Tracy. Thoroughly enjoyable book. I almost missed my bus stop I was so engrossed.

I enjoyed this story of Tracey & Adrian and their love story. I did sometimes find it hard to stomach Tracey's constant whining about how nobody would ever stay with her and what a tragedy her life was because she was adopted. The idea that she did not want to adopt a child simply because she was adopted was not reasonable. Also, I hated the way this book ended. It was a good story but could have been better with a complete story.
