A Forever Kind of Love is a sweet, ranch romance by Krista Lakes. Mia is a social worker, currently trying to keep her three young foster kids out of trouble and under the radar of the state. She will do whatever it takes to keep them from being separated and sent to different foster homes. So, when they break into car-company billionaire Carter Williamson’s ranch house on a dare, Mia is desperate for Carter to not call the cops on them. Carter is willing to let them work off the cost of damages - if Mia accompanies them every time they come. Soon, time on the ranch is helping the kids behave better and bringing them out of their shells, while also leading Carter and Mia towards an undeniable chemistry. But Carter is at the ranch to hide out from threats to his life, and admitting his feelings towards Mia will put her in danger as well. Carter will have to decide if Mia’s safety is bigger than his love for her, and he will have to decide soon - before the next threat ends his chance at his happily-ever-after with Mia.
This was a very sweet romance by Krista Lakes. Our setting is a sleepy ranch in Colorado, and the characters definitely personify that laid-back feeling. Mia is a caring social worker, and she can quickly go from over-protective to proud parent in a flash. Carter is a billionaire, making his money from a hybrid car company he just recently stepped away from, but he isn’t a flashy billionaire. Mia remarks on several occasions that Carter is just as attractive in his jeans and t-shirt as he is at work at his drawing board creating new car designs. Carter is also really great with the kids, and it’s rare to see the billionaire outside getting dirty and getting down to a kid’s level just to comfort them. Carter has wealth but doesn’t flaunt it, and the author created a nice pairing in Carter and Mia. Both are strong and protective in their own rights, but together they can be strong and protective for each other.
The writing is strong, and the plot is well done and detailed. This isn’t Krista Lakes’ first novel, and the writing is something you’d expect from someone who has published before. I haven’t read any of Krista’s other works, but this romance has convinced me that I need to look into some of her other titles as well. Sweet, romantic - with just a bit of suspense - A Forever Kind of Love is sure to satisfy a wide variety of readers.
Mia Amesworth is a social worker with not much of a life, because she is always working. Mia knows what it is like to be in the foster system, since she experienced it herself. She has a big heart and some big dreams to try and make life easier for these forgotten children if she could just get some funds. But the love that Mia shows for the Smith's children is strong, warm and inspiring. Determined to keep them together as a family she is everything to these children. So when the boys are caught breaking into Stone Mountain Ranch and stealing a statue as a prank, she will do anything to keep this from being reported to the police.
Carter Williamson is hiding out after receiving death threats at his office. He is only at his secret ranch until they catch whoever is trying to kill him. The ranch was supposed to be safe and yet two small boys break a window and get inside. But when their social worker shows up to try to get him not to press charges he is overtaken by desire, for the stunningly attractive, sweet, strong woman that is filled with passion and love for these children. So Carter comes up with a way the boys can pay him for the broken window, by working the price off as long as the lovely Mia chaperones them when they are at the ranch.
I loved Mia and Carter so much. The ease they had with each other as they meet and become friends and things develop. l loved the pull they had, the great conversations, and dialogue it all had me hooked. Then add the heat and desire that is so evident in everything they say and do for one another and you will not be able to put this story down.
Will these two get a HEA. Will they catch whoever is trying to kill Carter before it is to late? Fantastic Ending! Loved it! Highly Recommended!
Received an ARC from the author and voluntarily wrote an honest review.
Don't waste another minute reading this review. You need to read this book.
I LOVED Mia and Carter’s story. Mia has wanted a child for as long as she could remember. While she was in college, she had an unplanned pregnancy, however she miscarried early on and found out that she would never be able to have children. Mia became a children’s social worker, and right not she has charge of 3 siblings, and she just received a call about 2 of them breaking a window while breaking into the nearby billionaire’s ranch.
Carter is in hiding. Someone is trying to kill him. When the alarms go off that someone is breaking into his house he is understandably upset. When Carter meets his intruders, well, he does not know what to think. Then, he meets their social worker, and then, he knows exactly what to do. He puts the kids to work to pay off the breaking of the window, with the intention of getting to know Mia.
I loved watching Mia and Carter become friends and falling in love, both working thru their problems.
My favorite part…. The surprise, no, sorry, I am not giving any spoilers away.
I was gifted with an ARC of this wonderful book for an honest opinion of this book. I can truly say, go ahead and one click this book, you will not be disappointed.
Now, I can’t wait for the next in this series, A Hopeful Kind of Love, to come out. 😊
