The bad news is that it wasn't by using this product.
There is no easy fix for quitting smoking. You will try and sometimes you will succeed only to slip and fail later. Don't let that get to you. Keep trying because there will come a day that you will succeed for good.
I've quit 3 times in my life:
--the first time for 5 years but 'sneaking' smokes behind my then husband's back
--the second time for 2 years. My then husband went back to smoking almost immediately, so holding out for 2 years was pretty good but I still fell back into my old habit eventually.
--this time, the third time, has been just about 5 months. What makes me think it will stick? I feel way different than any of the previous times. Hard to explain but I just know I'm done instead of wondering if I can get away with having just one.
I gave this product 3 stars because it was soothing and did seem to help me fall asleep at night. But I was not using it when I quit any of the 3 times that I did.
I have used other self-help hypnosis CDs for other issues in the past with decent results, so I was hopeful that this one would have some degree of helpful result. I followed the program as instructed however it did NOT help at all. My cravings were not at all reduced. After listening to the second disk, I wanted nothing more than to light up again... :(
Perhaps I wasn't as ready to quit as I thought I was... But I do know that it was challenging to listen to the CDs because this guys voice was grating and the changes in his vocal pitch were distracting. It was not as relaxing as other hypnotherapist CDs I've used.
You select a quit date and write down on CD number 2. You listen to CD 1 and on the quit date listen to CD 2. Then you are to listen to CD 3 for 21 days to reinforce the suggestions. You need to change cig brands 10 days before you quit. I recommend you listen to the introduction as soon as you get the album so you know what to do.
I tried the MP3 download and I was afraid it would not play in order. I guess I just don't know how it works. I bought a portable CD player. I will get back to you on how it works for me.
Well, I'm 10 days non-smoker. I have times were I really want a cig but I use the method in the CD and it usually helps. I wish there was some message about not substituting food or candy for cig so I don't gain weight. I usually add this to my thought process during the introduction of CD#3 before the deep breathing. It has been fairly easy to quit so I would recommend this to anyone.
9-2-12 I'm 6 weeks non smoker. I have gained 7 pounds and need a diet. I have had trouble with the hand mouth thing and bought an inexpensive e-cig at my local smoke shop. I bought the non-nicotine cartilage and it has helped. I still listen to cd #3 for support and I think I'm really on my way for forever non-smoker.
I also would have needed to keep listening to the CD's instead of stopping.
At the time of purchase, the documentation for these CD's was inadequate. This may have changed since then. I found myself not wanting to smoke....true enough. But I couldn't figure out if I was listening to the right CD or not (there were 3). I stopped using the program after the first disc because I didn't know what to do next or when. Let me say that some of this might have been my own problem of wanting a "best practices" leaflet.
