Our dual sided ozone plates are easy to remove and replace. We invented the "bare bones" ozone generator concept in 2009. Many have tried to copy our concept but fail. The stacked ozone plates coming from China feature cemented on ozone elements that cannot be easily replace and do create a fire hazard (if the wires come loose). Those transformers sit flush, trapping heat inside the transformer, ours sit sideways allowing for proper cooling. Our machines create over 6 ppm of ozone in a 1000 sq ft area after 1 hour run time with a box fan, theirs produce less than 2 ppm. Ours comes with a 30 minute interval 24 hour timer so you can set it to run daily when you're not home to keep your living area sanitized and parasite, mold, odor, and bacteria free. Thiers can only be run for 30 minutes at a time. USES: We make industrial strength ozone generators that produce ultra high levels of ozone which are used for the following applications: 1) To permanently remove second hand smoke damage. 2) To sanitize the air and remove harmful bio hazards such as viruses, molds, bacteria, VOC's, chemicals, pest feces and other indoor air allergens. 3) To kill parasites, mites (all types), and small insects including flying insects. 4) To kill airborne and surface molds. This unit is NOT an air purifier! Ozone is a sanitizing machine. High ozone shock treatments are administered in UNOCCUPIED areas! This unit doesn't have a fan because 100 CFM fans are not strong enough to churn the air. That requires a 20" box fan that creates around 3000 CFM. and cost around $20. this was the 'miracle' i was looking for

We have a lake cottage that we bought in 2010. It had an odor that was equal parts: rodent (mice infestation) / closed up house / mustiness. We didn't know about the mice until after we had moved in, and they were bad. I proceeded to diligently trap them and eradicated the problem. Next I had the carpets steam cleaned. We would air the place out every time we visited. We wiped down the walls with Pine Sol. Still, this musty odor would linger that we couldn't quite get rid of.

I tried lava rocks (the ones in the mesh bag). Charcoal based odor absorbers. Various gels and beads. Baking soda.

All kinds of sprays, from air fresheners to Febreze to the expensive sprays that claim to eliminate odor like Zorbx.

All of these worked very superficially. They weren't able to penetrate the odors that were caught inside the insulation in the attic, or behind walls, or deep within couch cushions.

It was honestly bad enough we were considering selling. Then I learned about ozone generators and spent probably 50 hours researching online, various products and various forums. I looked at which industries used them, how they were used, what the different designs were, and how many long term reviews I could find. I was skeptical, but I was desperate to find a solution. I spoke with the owner of this business, which gave me some peace of mind, and then I purchased.

Because it's unpredictable when we will have time to visit our cottage and its rarely planned more than a day ahead of time, I couldn't just plug it in and leave it on. I set it up to run off a timer, with a box fan blowing across it, everything resting on the carpet floor. Used a surge protector. For the intial phase, I had it run 3 hours a day. The next time we visited, a couple weeks later, the difference was dramatic. Couple weeks later and the smell was totally gone. AMAZING. I was able to dial back the run times once the initial odor was dealt with. It runs at 7am and by the time we arrive after dinner, the ozone has safely dissipated. About 900 sq ft that I am treating with high ceilings.

If I had better access and the cottage was closer, I would have set it up to run non-stop for a few days for the initial phase. So it doesn't need to take weeks to become effective.

Note that I would have never achieved these results with a small ozone generator, the kind that claim to clean the air and are advertised as safe to run while you are in the home. You must shock treat if you have serious odor. And to safely shock treat, you must either use a timer so that the treatment has ended well before you enter the premises, or you have to unplug it and let it air out. Please read the instructions and follow them. With that said, I don't want to scare anyone. My son has asthma and allergies and by following directions, we have no issues at all.

This is one of my favorite purchases of all time, unbelievably effective. And the design is nice, very simple. Will be a cinch to replace the plates when that time comes.

Update 10/14/2013:
Have been using this product for a few months now. I had decreased the run time from 3 hrs, to 1 hr, to 30 minutes, and am now all the way down to 5 min per day. I have switched to a digital timer that gives me more control. I may switch to only 15 min once a week, probably on Mondays, that way it stops well in advance of our typical Friday arrival.
Still working great.

Update 1/29/2015:
The unit still works great. The plates are losing effectiveness. Part of the reason is the cottage got extremely humid and I didn't run the dehumidifier in the summer, my mom was extremely ill and passed away and we never really got to the cottage over the summer. So just be aware that extreme humidity damages the plates. Since they are producing less ozone now, I increased the runtime on my timer to compensate and it's still good. I also have a new spare plate ready to be installed. I still feel this is one of my best purchases ever. The plates aren't that expensive and I can attest they last a very long time.

This Bare Bones Ozone Generator is easy to use. You CAN safely give that smelly room of yours a shock treatment. Really! Just follow the directions provided by the manufacturer which gives tips for a "fail safe" set-up. For a fail safe set-up, you'll need these additional items: 1. a fan (needed to keep the generator cool as well to spread the ozone), 2. a timer, and 3., an extension cord long enough to reach outside the room being treated. If you are treating just one room for a short time, you'll also need tape to seal the room off from the rest of the house. If you are doing a true "shock treatment", the manufacturer recommends setting your timer for no more than 6 hours and you must leave the area (not coming back until the area has had at least a couple of hours for the ozone to dissipate). We gave our basement a true 6-hour shock treatment and, because we would be gone during the time the ozone generator was functioning, we also added a surge protector to the "fail safe" set-up just because I worried what might happen in my absence. I needn't have worried. All went well and my basement, which had retained a moldy smell even after fixing a leak, now smells great! We also gave one bedroom a short (1 hour) treatment being sure to seal its door with tape. We stayed in the house for this treatment although we had several windows open during the process because a bit of ozone escaped in spite of sealing the door. I was fine and, since I have asthma, this is a proof that you can safely treat your house if you carefully follow the manufacturer's directions. If you are wondering about making an investment in this generator, think about the money you will save over paying a professional as well as the sense of security you will have knowing you haven't just covered up the odor, you have destroyed it--along with the mold and bacteria that was causing it. A final note: The freshness is addicting! Now that I have used this ozone generator, I can understand why other reviewers have said they routinely use it every month!

Do not honor warranty!

I ordered a 7000 mgh unit and received a 3500mgh unit. Made a call and was sent another 3500mgh until promptly,yay. Plates started wearing out after couple of months so ordered a total of 5 more, I expected them to last longer but whatever. Almost a year exactly and transformer broke so unit doesn't work at all. Made another call to them spoke to Larry, super helpful said that it was transformer and would send me one. So I mentioned that I was burning out 6 plates in a year and wanted to order 4 more to be shipped in the same box.He said cool, since you're doing that I'll give you 2 more for free! Yay, finally a company with good customer service.
A week later I received 4 plates,hmmm... Made a call. This time got the owner, filled him in on the situation and he started almost yelling about how he shouldn't be giving away anything and went on a rant. Then told me my options were send them the broken transformer and they'll get it tested costing me $12 or buy a new one for $14. Wow. Basically begged him to honor the warranty even if just this once since I've bought so much from them and would continue. Nope.
Buyers beware.
