Clever, original...Lorret proves her skills...Jacinda's constant mischief and Crispin's reactions to her behavior add welcome humor to their slow-brewing romance.-- "Publishers Weekly (starred review)"
Lorret sends up a rollicking historical romance with traces of the Jason Bourne saga in a domestic setting, boosted by vivid characters and lively storytelling. A sparkling, witty romance that is both lighthearted and intense.-- "Kirkus Reviews"
Sparkles with wit and passion. The endearing secondary characters augment the charming amnesia plot to perfection, and readers will enjoy spending time with the meddling matchmaker and secretive duke, while delighting in Lorret's references to Jane Austen's Emma that ring true for her heroine as well. A smart, fun charmer!-- "RT Book Reviews (4 stars)"
This is the author you've been waiting for!-- "Sophie Jordan, author of Firelight, praise for the author" --This text refers to the audioCD edition.
From the Inside Flap
The Bourne Matrimonial Agency has one rule: Never fall in love with the client. A simple thing to remember . . . unless you're a matchmaker with amnesia
The Duke of Rydstrom requires a wife. Preferably one with a large fortune and a complete lack of curiosity. The last thing he needs is a meddling matchmaker determined to dig up his dark family secrets.
All Jacinda wants is to find a bride for a duke. How hard could that be? He's handsome, enigmatic . . . and hiding something. She's sure of it. Determined to discover what it is, she travels to his crumbling cliffside estate. Yet, by the time she washes up on his beach, she can no longer remember who she is or why the duke is so familiar to her. All she knows is that his kisses are unforgettable--and she intends to use every skill she can to discover what's in his heart . . .
When Miss Bourne can't remember what brought her to his ancestral home, Rydstrom intends to keep it that way. Yet as the days pass, his true challenge will be safeguarding his secret while resisting this woman who--confound it all--may well be his perfect match.--Publishers Weekly (starred review) --This text refers to an alternate kindle_edition edition.

This is a slow burn of a romance, but once the fire ignites, that's it, it's pretty hot. Rydstrom is extremely rigid and Jacinda is extremely impulsive so they are the epitome of opposites. It's actually funny how quickly he has her figured out and she really pushes his buttons. The process of her figuring herself out since she has no memory is good and the villagers add a nice hometown element to the story.
If I had a complaint it would be that Rydstrom's transformation was a bit abrupt. One moment he is practically growling at her and the next he is calling her darling. Not a big deal though but part of why this was a 4 star instead of 5.
Highly enjoyable read and looking forward to the other two sisters' stories.
a rundown Castle by the sea, his secret is safe with his loyal family servants. One of my favorite quotes of the book is when Miss Bourne tells the Duke, " I will always find my way back to you." When the Duke tells her, " I wished that I had locked us both in the tower, and thrown away the key!" Sigh! This will make my too 20 list this year, absolutely loved it!
I highly recommend! Thank you!
