Speed was out, too. For 80% of the story author teases with the secrets that everybody has. When the secrets come out, they are afterclimactic, no longer powerful and rather boring.
Don't bother with this one. Let the author polish her craft, she DOES have talent, and read something else in the meantime.
This was a neat story. It really kept me guessing through the whole reading about numerous things. What was David's secret? What was Jacob's secret? Who was Elizabeth going to choose? The characters were likeable and I'm interested in reading more about them in the next book, Bleeding Heart. Elizabeth seemed like a sweetheart and I liked her and David together.
I think one of the most interesting parts was the diversity in this story. Whenever I think of the Wild West, I usually just think of cowboys, pioneers and saloon girls. But in Forget Me Not, we see other cultures, like people of Cornish decent and Jews. I think that was a really neat thing to incorporate.
I like how the title plays in this story too. Forget-me-not flowers play a role in the story, as well as the feeling of being forgotten.
All in all Forget Me Not is a nice story that fans of historical fiction, Westerns in particular, will enjoy.
I give this book a 4 out 5.
I have to say... I'm kind of sad how Joe's life worked out, from Forget Me Not, to Bleeding Heart. Even though he did kind of make me mad in this book, coming in and stealing Elizabeth from David! But I guess even he got healing in the end. Someday I'll have to read this series over again, in the correct chronological order!
A profound, bittersweet, and touching series over all! Forget Me Not was lovely, the ending scene so precious!! :) I eagerly await Morning Glory... (which I hear is Myghal's story??)
It is such a great story of reconciliation and how they come to terms with their past and how they get there. What will Elizabeth do, who will she choose? That kept me guessing. I was really wondering what would happen. Amber does an excellent job writing western novels. I love the flower titles and how she ties that into her books
-- As for some of her choices - after all she is only 17 yrs old.
