Editorial Reviews

Review

"It's difficult to write a character that is flawed but also likable. Antoci has accomplished this in a skill that is not often seen in debut authors. The protagonist, Rae, is flawed but her mistakes are endearing because of what she is going through, and that's what makes her compelling, because she is wonderfully relatable."
-Elle Lewis, author of the Glass Star Trilogy

"I knew that I would love this book, there was no doubt about that, but I didn't know that I would be hooked from the very first page. This story completely captured me and I read the whole thing in two short sessions. It is really fast-paced and there aren't any "boring" moments, so I absolutely flew through this!
I also really enjoyed the writing style, it wasn't too flowery, it was just the right type of style to keep you captivated but not bog you down with a million metaphors. And the atmosphere was really engrossing, I was totally transfixed by this book from start to finish and I CANNOT wait for Book 2. I think this series could potentially be one of my new favourite series, I already knew that this would be one of the top books of 2020, only on page 1. I would recommend this book to fantasy buffs, but also to anyone, it isn't too "fantasy-y" so people who aren't used to this type of book won't be bothered by it I don't think. It has the potential to please everyone, and do you know what a call that? A blooming good book!"
- Ellie from Read To Ramble blog

"The book keeps you entertained because it unravels the plot strand by strand... making you eager to learn more with each turn of the page. This is a fantastic world, but it's not overwhelming.
Forget Me Not is a strong fantasy debut. There's a great world to discover and more adventures coming. I highly suggest this to new and old fantasy fans alike."
- Storme Reads A Lot

"Honestly, I really loved finding out all the different supernatural beings that exist. I liked that Rae started off as being pretty scared but was quick on her feet and managed to come up with ways to outwit some of these supernatural beings. She figured out clever or unique ways that she could use their weaknesses against them or manipulate them to think that she wasn't a threat. Rae is definitely a very clever young woman and I think that quick thinking and ability to adapt to sudden changes is what keeps her alive.
I'm looking forward to see where Rae's story will go next."
- Sarah's Book Life

"Anca Antoci has written a very readable story with an intriguing & sweet lead character. There's an interesting take on the standard horror creatures which lends itself well to the modern setting and also sets up what could be a great series. I have to give a bonus point here for the series name, Chimera, as it conjures up so many images for me."
- Peter Buckmaster

"The story grabbed me from the start and I was fascinated to learn about the Otherworld, with its magical creatures like Lycans, fairies, hellhounds, witches, demons, shapeshifters, and, of course, wolves and vampires. Parts of the book seemed reminiscent of the 2008 movie, Twilight. This did not diminish my enjoyment of the story, but I could not shake off the comparisons."
- Satabdi Mukherjee

Anca's overactive imagination pours into her stories bringing otherworldly creatures to life. Her debut novel, Forget Me Not, is the first part of a trilogy published in 2020.

Before starting her writing journey, Anca was active in the blogging community as a fantasy book reviewer. The fanfiction stories she wrote long before she dreamed of being a writer are still popular and available on her blog. Although not as often, she still posts book reviews and book recommendations on her blog www.summonfantasy.com.

Living in Romania, Anca speaks English as a second language and is quite self-conscious about her accent, which is why she never speaks in her videos on TikTok. She loves taking long walks through the parks to recharge her batteries before a writing sprint. Anca loves cooking and can often be found in the kitchen trying out a new recipe while an audiobook keeps her entertained.

4.0 out of 5 stars Witches, werewolves, vampires & a young lady caught in the middle!
Reviewed in Japan on March 6, 2020
This was the second book I've read recently that was outside my "comfort zone" yet I really enjoyed it. And both have been vampish! ...as in had vampires in them. Anca Antoci has written a very readable story with an intriguing & sweet lead character. There's an interesting take on the standard horror creatures which lends itself well to the modern setting and also sets up what could be a great series. I have to give a bonus point here for the series name, Chimera, as it conjures up so many images for me.
Again, vampire & werewolf urban tales are not what I would normally go for but I'm glad I'm listening to the recommendations of friends and expanding my reading world. If you're big into the hunky werewolf, beautiful vampire trend, I reckon you'll enjoy this. And if you like a story about a relatable protagonist (makes dumb decisions, gives in to desires) who enters a shadow world of witches & "monsters", then also I recommend checking out Anca Antoci's work.
I was very surprised to learn, when I read the blurb at the back, that Anca Antoci's first language is not English. I live in Japan and could never dream of writing anything more than a short letter in my second language so the utmost respect goes out to her there. Antoci lives in Romania so I wonder if one day she'll produce a work influenced by the folk-lore there. I'd be very interested in that!
