Vinyl LP pressing. 2012 album from the Brooklyn-based Indie band. Originally touted as a '9/11 denier hoax,' the group went on to surprise even itself by losing it's mind on it's tragic-glorious 2011 European tour. Surviving members Kevin Mahon (Against Me!) and Blake Schwarzenbach (Jawbreaker, Jets to Brazil) went to Baltimore, Maryland, in late 2011/early 2012 to record this eponymous full-length with J. Robbins. The result is pure Caesar: A quasi-fascist Republic with power streaming from every administrative angle. The small nation-state plans to tour following the release of it's album, in what it has called 'Dubai or Death.' Mortal Kombat fans take note, all others be seated.

Along with the usual suspects of familiarity (Jawbreaker, Jets to Brazil) I found there to be elements of 60's psychedelia (Strike, for some reason, seems like a lost track from Shazam by The Move), a plethora of Gothic undertones (done with credibility and knowledge as opposed to targeting in on the current vampire/zombie craze) and classic 80's pop (their Human League cover sounds like Richard Butler did guest vocals; it sounds awesome).
This album is an absolute classic. Blake's songwriting is becoming focused and driven. He's using his voice and lyrical deliveries as involved elements to each and every song. If you like his repertoire then you will definitely not be disappointed.
