I love the simple cover by Michelle Crocker.
Forgetting Jane by C J Warrant starts out with one of my worst nightmares…being buried alive…and I hold my breath until…
WOW, what an opening scene for a fantastic novel.
YAY, two mysteries in one. Who buried Jane Doe and who is she? She has amnesia and I cannot imagine the terror as she struggles to tell the difference between the real and the unreal. I too am wondering what is going on. Who is the girl in the yellow dress?
The sick sob stalking her is determined to finish what he started. Who is he? Why is he so bold?
Small town cop, Elias McAvoy, knew HIS visit to Jane was a message. The stalker must be local. Imagine knowing it’s someone you live with, someone you talk to day in and day out. I was scared for her at every turn…every time a chapter started, her hospital door opened, her eyes opened…a constant state of suspense at a steady pace created a feeling of terror.
Elias and Jane are so hurt and damaged, lost. Would they be drawn together? Could they heal each other’s wounds…if given the chance? Finally, he did something to…maybe…get through to her. Or is she just crazy?
I was so waiting for Caroline to SHUT THE H*** up.
Harold…is he just misunderstood and harmless? I think he has an important part to play.
I have two very strong suspects…among the many. Okay, I can rule him out, but he was too obvious anyway. Another suspect is proven innocent. Who is it? Every time I “turn the page”, I expect him to jump out at me…again! My first thought was right, but C J Warrant sure had me going. Yes, no, yes, no.
Suspense…WOW…off the charts from the beginning to the end. This adult romantic paranormal suspense novel leaves me “panting” for more. If you like fast paced nonstop suspense causing the hair to rise on the back of your neck and shivers to run up and down your spine, you MUST READ Forgetting Jane by C J Warrant.
I received a copy of Forgetting Jane by C J Warrant in return for an honest review.
I love a dark, page-turning mystery and "Forgetting Jane" does not disappoint! From author, CJ Warrant comes a great story of a girl that is found by a bird dog while two men are hunting. Half buried and just about half dead starts the story of this face paced story.
forgetting janeBeaten and left to die, Jane is rescued by Harold and his hunting partner one early morning. Luckily for the bird dog, she was discovered or I am not sure she would have been anytime soon. What unfolds is a girl that only can remember the ' haunting girl in the yellow' dress that keeps filling her otherwise empty memory.
Elias McAvoy is haunted as well, by the crushing guilt he feels over the deaths of two women, one by his own hand. He will not and cannot let Jane down too. As an investigator for their police department, he feels that it is his duty to find out what happened to Jane before she was found half buried in the marshy area.
This book was very easy to follow along and it makes you want to route not only for Jane but for Eli as well. Eli's need to solve her case and save her is all that is on his mind, or is it? With his haunted past, he feels that he can't lose Jane also. Someone seems to be following Jane, or it could possibly be her imagination? But when Eli feels it too he doesn't want to leave her side.
Warrant offers just enough plot twists to keep the mystery a bit of a mystery. Who attacked "Jane"? Warrant does a wonderful job of dropping crumbs leading readers in the wrong direction (or at least leading them to believe they are headed in the wrong direction) until nearly the end. I love a mystery that offers enough information to solve the crime--but, still keeps readers a little unsure of their solution.
Would I recommend Forgetting Jane? If you enjoy thrillers with a little romance and paranormal--this book is well worth a spot on your reading list. I enjoyed the book and the characters and look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for use in review. All opinions are my own.
The small town of Beaver Creek, Wisconsin is the setting where the story takes place. It starts with two hunters and their dog finding a woman who has been beaten and buried - but miraculously she is still alive. Chief Elias McAvoy - a recovering alcoholic -- tries to find out who's behind the attempted murder. Jane Doe -- the unidentified woman -- is in a coma and when she wakes up she suffers from amnesia. No one knows who she is or exactly what happened to her. I don't write spoilers -- but, believe me, this book will catch your interest and the suspense will hold you so tight that you will NOT be able to stop reading until you reach the end and discover all the secrets disclosed in the book.
