While there is great wisdom here, it feels like a self published book that did not receive the benefit of an editor.

The author devotes several chapters to outlining the details of the crime to be forgiven, eulogizing the departed, etc. Leaving enormous gaps in following central premise of the book: how and why to apply forgiveness.

It is important for an author to realize that the book is for a reader who wants to apply the teaching to their own life. It is important to stay on topic and keep it moving.

I felt that the style was somewhat self-indulgent in rambling on about the details of the author's resentments. I was bored and had to skip ahead to find relevant material that I could apply.

Authors CJ and Shelley Hitz are very transparent in sharing the pain they have been through. Their reward however comes in dynamic, easy to understand counsel they offer on how forgiveness is healing and how "the strong winds of life" shape us into who we are today. CJ and Shelley take turns recounting experiences and lessons learned. Hard lessons-yes.
The overwhelming thing that sticks out in this book for me is that we must choose to advance our attitudes and actions toward forgiveness. How long we harbor toxic emotions too is a choice. You will see the enabling power of grace extended in this book when you reach toward God and simply rely on His help.
Distinguish pain has a way of sensitizing us to the needs of others. Grant their stories to turn your heart and situations to inner confessions of allowing grief to take it's course on the road to freedom through forgiveness.
Other areas you will explore include the following:
-Why journaling can be a great tool in processing happenings and dialoging with God.
-Why we need to forgive ourselves and how
-How we begin developing a healthy view of God after having experienced spiritual abuse.
-Biblical safeguards for hearing God's voice

Trials, as it seems, are all filtered through God's hands of love. The math, as they would probably say, does not have to add up. I'm reminded from this refreshing book that we will never understand all there is to know in the trials we face but that we can know the freedom from releasing ourselves from the pain of others wounds.
Allow this book to bless you with lasting truths.

Cj and SHelly have created an awesome book here! I recommend this to anyone of any age. What I like about this book is that it is straightforward. IT is to the point and clear to understand. YOu can clearly see that Cj and SHelly have a heart to teach people and for them to get free. I like that this is a very open book with many examples. this is what makes it so real and because with such a topic as forgiveness some people can tend to skirt around what that can look like. Well shelly and cj tell u how it worked out in their life and what it lead to-freedom! they dont pretend its easy..but following God isnt always "Easy" but it is REWARDING giving you ABUNDANT life. IF you want to see a practical way of forgiveness please read this book. I also encourage you to read any other of their material. I have also read "Mirror Mirror" book and that book also greatly blessed me. THis book is straightforward and sound, please pick it up , you won't regret it!

I just finished reading Forgiveness Formula: Finding Lasting Freedom in Christ. This is a good read. Not always easy. Stepped on my toes a time or two in a good way. Gives simple examples from the authors life and triggered memories from mine. Great ideas and explanations and workable ideas on how to forgive. I am really glad I read it and will be referring back to it many times.

Perfect material for those who are dealing with hurts from so long ago.

It is also a great reminder that God wants us to forgive as he forgives us. We need to remember that whatever happens has a purpose even though it may be difficult to see at the time.
