Tatum Jackson is in her last year of residency in a high-pressure ER. Small mistakes become larger ones, until Tatum is forced to take a much-needed break from it all. Arriving at Libre Volare, a combination retreat/spa compound, Tatum is taken aback at the almost mystical beauty and sense of peace that envelops her from the first moment. But Tatum is wound tight; she wants, no, she NEEDS to get back to her REAL life, and put the mistakes of the past behind her.
“He tasted of happiness and peace. She wanted all of him.”
Connor Hansen is the youngest son; a falcon shifter that instantly recognizes Tatum as his destined mate. But Tatum isn’t interested in a short time fling; heck, all Tatum wants is to return to the life she has led for the last several years. Tatum has devils to purge before she can move forward with her life, and there’s no room for romance … or is there?
A very enjoyable read; well written with unexpected twists and turns. HEA with some detours along the way.
I am pleased with the overall roundness of this novel. I enjoyed the chemistry between are characters the growth that occurred between them on their short time frame. While the story proceeded at a fast pace it seemed Wilson was still able to conjure up a bit of a cat and mouse chase. And the chase was thoroughly enjoyed.
I can see this being a series that could easily be swept away if not handled correctly, but Wilson seems to have honed in on her craft. Setting it up book one with one conclusion while leaving the door open for a following story.
The added twist of the townspeople was somewhat predictable but still as the unraveling happened it flow meticulously from one scene into the next. I think what surprised me most thought as the open forum between Connor and Tatum. While Tatum was expecting, she asked questions, she showed an emotion other than lust.
While most authors I read in the shifter world seem to just cave or go with the flow Tatum didn't. And that was what I loved about this the most. The authentic emotions that were expressed.

I think everyone has met a Tatum. Driven to succeed. Perfectionist. But when they can achieve perfection they either crash and burn or create new goals. The author made Tatum real and I really enjoyed this story.
