I honestly wish there was a way to give Forgiving Gia more than just a measly five stars, this book was THAT incredibly well written. Because in truth, it was written on a deeper level than Saving Abel was written. In Saving Abel, we met Gia and Abel and got to know them in a...for lack of a better word....in a very intimate way. The same cannot be said about Forgiving Gia, because this book was written for the reader to look past the physical and get to know Abel and Gia on a deeper, emotional, more meaningful level.
We literally pick up right where Whitney left us hanging--does anyone remember that sucker-punch to the gut cliffhanger? Gia is just devastated that Abel literally walked away from her, never once looking back as he boarded his private jet to Europe. Of course, I can't actually tell you what happens on that tarmac, that would just be mean, but I can tell you that Gia and Abel are brought back together. However, they must find a way to work past their extreme trust issues, their penchant for jumping to conclusions without first talking to the other, and they have to figure out if their relationship is more than just hot sex.
For me, Forgiving Gia was by far my favorite book, because you finally get an inside look at who the man behind the Dom is, and he's a fascinating creature. You get some of your questions answered, but it wouldn't be a true Gina Whitney book if she didn't raise more questions than answer them. I connected with Gia and Abel more in this book than I did in Saving Abel, mainly because they're forced to actually talk about their problems to one another and figure out ways to work around them. To me, the emotional connection speaks volumes, and there were a couple of times that I actually felt heartbreak over the things Gia and Abel were forced to endure in their childhoods.
For those of you who liked the...hot scenes in Saving Abel, rest assured that Gina Whitney will NOT disappoint you in any way shape or form. Let's just say that Abel brings his A-game to the bedroom, armed with an interesting arsenal. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is looking for some hot sex and emotional connections. But be forewarned......you might end up falling for a certain Silver Fox that Abel calls....Dad.
If I thought book 1, Saving Abel, was a hot, hard, twisted, and sweaty ride, it was nothing compared to Forgiving Gia! There is tragedy, past horrors revealed, betrayal, tenderness, and the hot D/s relationship of a broody Alpha Dom for his sassy little sub. It was quite the roller coaster from beginning to end and I absolutely loved it! Even as some questions were answered, there were just as many new questions came to the surface. To say anymore would be to give too much away... You'll just have to read it to find out for yourself!
WARNING: This book picks up where Saving Abel left off and does end in a cliff-hanger. I guess we'll have to wait until book 3 to find out all the answers!
This was a phenomenal story of survival, healing, and moving forward. I adored Abel and his possessiveness of Gia...she's his obsession. His life's breath. Together, Abel and Gia claw their way back to their light and find the beginning to their mutual healing. In the end, light does conquer darkness. I loved this story. Yes, it touches on child abuse and neglect...but more importantly, it's about hope and healing. Abel and Gia find their hope in each other. Struggling with demons of his own, Gia brought Abel hope, joy and peace when he had none. She brought color into his dull life and she'd given him a reason to want to plan a future. She is sunshine to his darkness....soft to his hard and he quickly becomes lost without her. Ms. Whitney painstakingly drew me into this dramatic plot and led me, inch by wonderful slow inch, through each step and phase of the progression of Abel and Gia's discovery of each other...as well as through the dilemma of their lives. Ms. Whitney never rushed and because of her talented writing capabilities.. I had no choice but to feel connected as one with the main characters...there is no other alternative than to fall into the brutal emotional turmoil facing Gia and Abel. The journey is hard and the attrocities of their loveless lives are harder, but the rewards are great.
