The backstory is two very young people in love. She is just finishing high school and he is two years older. So they are still just kids themselves but they can also have a forever love if life is good to them. For these two life really did a number on them. They part with neither knowing what truly happened. The story starts 12 years later. A lot has happened but these two have a lot of anger and pain and they are definitely not going to overlook or forgive the sins of the other. This story also shows that sometimes when you see something with your own eyes, it may not be what you believe you are seeing. That lesson takes maturity and experience something these two did not have at the time.
There are a lot of elements to this story. There is definite pain, loss of loved ones, anger, hurt, love and every other emotion in the book. It is a great story with a very good list of characters. It shows how events effects not only the immediate members of a family but also a whole community. It also shows what can happen when a young mother chooses to put the welfare of her child over her own disappointment and hurt. It is a very good read and I definitely recommend it. In one sense, it would be good for all ages and in another maybe not so much. If you have a child getting ready for high school or college it would do well to let them see what can happen at a party where a person loses all control over what is happening. Better to prepare them even if it does scare them somewhat. This story is also a good lesson in that regard. I really found this story to be very interesting and captivating. A good read.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 4/5/18
