This first book in a new series by McAdams in the new adult romance subgenre offers a well-developed relationship and genuine romance with plenty of humor as well as scenes of sexual assault and violence. Quickly read and potent, it will leave readers craving the sequel. (Booklist)
This novel from “new adult” author McAdams (Taking Chances), which mixes together a suspenseful thriller and lighthearted romance, should please fans of both genres… (Publishers Weekly)
About the Author
Molly McAdams grew up in California but now lives in the oh-so-amazing state of Texas with her husband, daughter, and fur babies. Her hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, traveling, and long walks on the beach . . . which roughly translates to being a homebody with her hubby and dishing out movie quotes.

Logan “Kash” is the perfect example of my Alpha Male. He’s forceful in getting the information he wants, but so sweet and tender when loving the girl he has. Kash is now in my top #5 book boyfriends.
Rachel is so strong and funny. I loved her sass and the fact that she didn’t take crap from Kash or the people around her.
The plot was intriguing and unique. I totally didn’t see a certain event coming to light until it happened. I was like, “What? He is the what? Holy Hell!” I was blown away with the suspense in this one. Can you say Cliffhanger? Yes, this one ends with one, and it killed me. I can’t wait for Deceiving Lies to release. I need to know what happens and I’m praying that Molly doesn’t break my heart. This book is going in my archive under “Must Read Again”, I can’t tell you anymore without ruining it. Read it, loved it, and I’m dying to read more. Well done, Molly McAdams!
I give this book 5 STARS! ~Jen
Where to start... its definitely not what I expected. I wanted to DNF it several times. The characters made me mad, the relationship between Kash and Rachel felt forced, and the part with the undercover cop thing was mostly behind the scenes and nothing even came of that til past the 60% mark. I only DNF books if I'm bored and very little into them, but I didn't stop, because I kept hoping Rachel would get some kind of resolution to the conflict in her life.
I really wanted that resolution after she was raped. I wanted it even more after her very selfish and very vapid best friend didn't believe her. The way that pathetic excuse of a friend continued to treat her after, and even the way she acted before, was terrible. Rachel could do so much more better for friends and should've dumped her.
Now let me talk about Kash and the way he acted like a fifties father in his treatment of Rachel. Forcing her to let go of her shields (hypocrite much? Considering his secret), backing her into a corner to confess about the rape, pulling her out of bed and putting her in the shower and then telling her its all to get her a job she wasn't looking for... and then the second time I almost DNF'd, threatening to put her over his knee and spank her because he wasn't getting his way during an argument. First: WHAT THE HELL?! Second: THAT IS NOT SOMETHING YOU SAY TO SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN A VICTIM OF SEXUAL ASSAULT!!!!!!!!!
Plus there is the consistency in which Kash thought of Rachel as a bitch and called her "Woman!" whenever she opposed him.
Rachel and Kash went from short-term friends to lovers to engaged so fast I went back, thinking I had missed something.
A lot of their early dialogue felt choppy to me, like watching one of those bad comedy movies that have no real plot and is one ridiculous thing after another, but its okay because its "comedy".
I want to say more about the other plots, especially in regards to the character that raped Rachel, but that means more spoilers. I need to watch it now.
Surprisingly I want to read the sequel. The story ended on a cliffhanger and I want to see what happens next.
A gorgeous Undercover cop Logan "Kash" Ryan (who is all bad boy with tattoos and a sexy lip ring) meets a broken but sassy and fiesty college girl Rachel Masters.
Kash and Mason is sent on an assignment to protect them what is actually going on back home in Florida and they are sent to Texas to track down the Carnation Murderer. They
move next door to Rachel and Candice and all four become close friends to look out one another. All are single and no one wants to pursue a relationship due to different reasons but it doesnt help when the heat rises once Rachel gets near Kash. He is so irresistible but will she be able to let her guard down to put her past behind her and let him in? Kash holds a secret to Rachel but he wants to protect her but is falling hard.
Get ready for an emotional and suspenseful journey in this series!
