“Forgotten dreams” is set in an idyllic location on the French Rivera (Saint-Tropez). There is no doubt that every time I read one of Susanne’s book I’m immediately transported to that location, rather than snuggled up by the heater in New Zealand. While I read the book, it was like I was there in Provence, sipping a bowl of café au lait at breakfast, while I watched the characters from afar play out a storyline, full of delightful twists and tantalising scandals.
That is what I most enjoy about Susanne’s books, that is she never forgets to add the true details of the culture as well as the landscape in her into her stories.
In February when Susanne asked a few of her readers to review “Forgotten Dreams” for her, I did not at first put up my hand, as I had just started a very busy semester at University. Susanne however, knowing that I enjoyed this series, asked me personally if I would, and I could not resist the temptation of saying “yes”. Unfortunately, I failed Susanne, and did not read the book until my mid-year winter break, and for this, I am honestly sorry. Since reading the book, I have also purchased the kindle edition and have begun to pester other friends into starting Susanne’s Rivera series.
I received this book for free in return for an honest review.
Having read the others in this series, I was so pleased to see this one published. This book does not disappoint. It's fun, thoughtful, sad in parts, has the reader fist punching the air with a cry of 'Yay you go girl!' and at other times laughing and thoroughly enjoying the characters' interactions. The twist at the end was unexpected although I had hoped it might happen while reading the story.....it was a lovely and very fitting ending for the main character Molly who readers of this series have no doubt grown to love.
