Update - it's been 3 months since I installed it in our vacation home. I test it weekly via my alarm.com spp and my security camera and it still works with no issues. We've had two power outages, and it reconnected just fine. Of note, temps at our place have reached 25° inside and I had no issues with the siren working as it should. I purchased the outdoor version, which is hard to come by anymore, sadly. I hope the round indoor version is as loud.
I tried to return the siren to Amazon but it was past the return period. I figured I had nothing to lose so I opened up the power supply. Nothing was visually broken to my untrained eye so I put it back together. I was about to throw it in the garbage and plugged it in one more time for giggles and was shocked to see that the green indicator light was lit solid. Great I thought, I can use it again. That lasted for about a week. One evening, Smartthings triggered the alarm as was expected and it went right back to the flashing green indicator/faulty power supply mode.
Long story short - works well initially, poor quality power supply, and non-existent support adds up to wasted money. I would not buy any Fortrezz devices in the future based on this experience.
Also just so everyone else knows it will flash lights up to 30% then at 40% and above it will sound the siren and flash the lights.
There are 6 red LED lights that are as bright as a headlamp so don't expect any kind of strobe because it's not there...
I'm really not all that impressed with this and which is had a way I could power it rather than plugging into an outlet.
I have posted some pictures because the one provided is really poor.
Followup: had a few connectivity issues (siren didn't activate). Unit was placed over 60 feet from base. Depending on your alarm company's hardware and frequency, the siren may need to be placed withing 25 feet of base station. I moved the base closer and added a remote light module that amplifies the signal. The siren is perfect...
It works and the siren goes off, but seeing it show as offline every now and again just makes me uneasy about the fact that there could be a time where it shows offline when it needs to be going off ... and won't ... so i'm still using the 2 I purchased, but I added another brand to make sure at least one of them goes off
I have removed one star as I have noticed that the alarm sound stops after 1 minute whereas I expect it to keep triggered until I stop it. Overall, I recommend it as it works as advertised.
I'll start with the "strobe light". It's not a strobe light. Heck, it's barely a light. It's like putting red cellophane over a 1W LED bulb and turning it off and on every 2 seconds. No one is going to see that, let alone be alarmed or spurred to action by it.
The sound is REALLY loud and piercing, although cheap. It will also "chirp" if you have a siren delay on your system. This is why it gets two stars instead of one...as annoying as the sound is, that is more or less the point of such a device. The chirping was a nice surprise.
I knew it was a corded unit when I purchased it, however there is no reason that this low power device couldn't be powered by 4 AA or AAA batteries for an extended period of time.
I can't get past how cheaply made this unit is and how completely worthless the strobe light is. I can't recommend this and will be seeking an alternative.
