For starters, this coat is open down the middle, and you have to lace it up from the waist to fasten it, and from the waist down it remains unfastened. It comes with some really cheap, shoelace-esque laces.
As for the fit: My boyfriend has a 40" chest and it fit perfectly there. He also has a belly, which it was not as forgiving with. His belly would push the laces apart and expose his undershirt. We realized a black undershirt would probably hide that better. Either way, you definitely want to wear something underneath this or you'll be showing some tummy.
The fabric is very cheap polyester with brown texturing painted on. It's the itchy, unbreathable type of polyester that most costumes are made of. It wrinkles easy and the paint on top can melt under an iron, so be careful. But I did like the material down the front and the cuffs, it was soft and quilted, which made a nice detail.
Personally, I think $60 for just a cheap top piece and no accessories is incredibly expensive. But since my boyfriend liked it quite a bit, I'm going to replace the laces with suede leather cord so it looks like the quality we paid for and maybe sew in a panel under the laces to hide his belly peeking out.
