Look / Feel
I love both the look and the feel of this watch. I think the colors and the face are unique and even though it's a hybrid smart watch, it looks like a watch first and foremost. Well done, Fossil. The feel is excellent. It's body is thicker than anything I've worn before, but that's ok since I know that to have a smart watch you're going to need a little more housing for the brains. That's ok. It didn't take long to get used to the feel. One reviewer states that the feel is terrible because the buttons dig into the back of his/her hand. As you can see in my pic, when you extend your hand back in such a way, there is indeed contact between the button and the back of the hand. It's not comfortable, but it's not something you really encounter frequently. I wouldn't want to wear the watch while doing push-ups, but for day to day use the comfort / feel is just fine. Finally, I wore it to bed a couple of times because the silent alarm and sleep tracking was pretty neat. But it is a bit too big for bed and I'd probably smash my wife's head with it as I toss and turn and that's not ideal. The only side effect of a larger watch like this is now that I'm used to it, when I put on my Tag that watch now feels comically small.
I wanted a smart watch, but didn't want to sacrifice the style and look of a good looking timepiece. This watch provides enough functionality, while still looking like a watch. Remember, if you don't configure it through the app, it's just a watch with no functionality. I've configured my watch to monitor just a few apps (phone, text messaging, hangouts) and I've configured it to monitor just a few of my most important contacts. So, for example, if I get a Text from Wife, then my watch vibrates all hands point to 1 (my wife's assigned number on my watch). If I get a Phone Call from my son, then my watch vibrates and all hands point to 2 (my son's assigned number on my watch). If I get a phone call from anyone, then my watch vibrates and all hands point to 11 (the number I assigned to the Phone app). Another neat feature, besides notifications, that I use daily, is how you can configure the bottom button to control an app. I selected my Music app for my bottom button. Now, with a single press of the bottom button, I can pause / resume music. A double-press of the bottom button skips to the next track. Very convenient. I use this feature when I'm in the pool and need to control the music, so now I don't have to get out of the pool or touch any phones or tables to control the music. Very handy for tunes in the shower as well.
I also enjoy the swapping out of bands. This comes with some sort of rubber band which looks fine, but I swapped it out with a nice looking leather band. Sweet!
Hope you find this review useful and a good use of your "time"! Ha! Pun.
I also ordered a leather strap from Fossil. It was a bit stiff at first, but after a couple of days is quite comfortable, and I prefer the look to the silicone band it comes from. The bands are very easy to switch, so if I do want to put the other one back on, it's a matter of 2 minutes or so.
There are other features like the camera shutter, time to destination and stopwatch that I haven't used much, but they did work when I tried them. All in all a great alternative to the overpriced fitness trackers and such.
Love it and enjoy wearing it.
It does all the functions written in the description of the watch.
Most of all, love it, because, I don't have to charge it every night like Apple and Android watches.
The battery needs to be changed ~ 6 months, and the beauty of it I can change it myself with the provided tool.
I recommend this watch.
