- Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2013Dust off the old glass boys...
First of all, these things are great. Solid build and cheap to boot.
This is the best way of getting older lenses on your newer body dslr. I currently have two, the MD (Minolta) and PK (Pentax) adapters. This allows me to go find those old, amazing lenses that people are selling for pennies on the dollar and use it with my GH2.
NOTICE: THIS WILL NOT IN ANYWAY TRANSMIT ANY AUTO FOCUS OR ZOOM INFORMATION.
This means everything is 100% manual on your lens. Focus, Aparture and Zoom. What you lose is auto focus, so moving subjects are pretty much a thing of the past. However, if you have a nice controlled environment, you can take one of those lens from the 80's that is made solid as a tank, stops down to F2 or F1.(something) and and destory.
The only thing I dont like is the release button. That is the only single part that feels a little cheap. They are done differently on each adapter, so the MD one is decent the PK one sucks so much.
Buy this mofo right now.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2014I am giving this item a full five stars because of how well made it feels. It weighs 88 grams and is solid without plastic parts, fits on my Olympus E-M1 firmly but smoothly. The lens removal stud protrudes just the right amount and is has a firm spring behind it. My three Minolta lenses (28mm, 50mm, and 70-300 mm) all connected smoothly, as did my Vivitar 17-28mm, and my Tamron/Minolta lens adapter, without any looseness. There are no optical parts or mechanical linkages in this item. Extremely good value for the price, solidly machined, can't see how it could be improved upon.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2013I've now got several of these Fotodiox adaptors. I can't really compare them to the expensive ones, since I don't have any, but this one appears to work as advertised. It fit cleanly onto my Minolta MD-mount lens and my Lumix G5 camera, with no obvious looseness, slop, or other issues. The finish is nice, and the construction appears solid.
Keep in mind, this is a hunk of metal, fully manual. It doesn't provide any electrical connections between the lens and camera, so if you are expecting that, this is the wrong adaptor. When using this adaptor you'll be manual aperture, manual focus, manual zoom. So be sure the lens you're using can do that.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2012I bought a micro 4/3 camera in order to use my closet full of older lenses from different manufacturers. This lens adapter has worked quite well with the Minolta MD/MC lenses I have used. In fact the problem is more with the camera: focusing on the LED screen in any kind of bright light is difficult. What I see so far is the the linear and chromatic distortion in many of these older lenses is superior to what I am seeing on newer, more expensive auto-focus lenses of equivalent focal length. Of course the 4/3 camera sensor mainly sees the "sweet spot" of the image thrown by the lens because of the effective doubling of focal length. THe combination of a micro 4/3 camera and lens adapters is a great toy for anyone with an extensive collection of older film based gear.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 5, 2016Was more or less working for a few weeks (but was harsh to turn), then, my Minolta MD 50mm f/2.0 stayed stuck in this adapter.
I had to bend with a screwdriver a plate inside the adapter to be able to turn the lens enough to be able to remove it!
The bayonet of my beloved lens was slightly damaged in the process, and the adapter is for the trashcan. DON'T BUY.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2012The Fotodiox adapter is made of metal, which means it is very sturdy, but heavier than most m4/3 lenses.
When mated to a minolta MD lens, your little m4/3 camera approaches the weight of a DSLR.
However, the point of this adapter is to use the excellent yet cheap Minolta lenses available on eBay (or in your collection), and it does that very well.
There is the tiniest bit of sliding between the lens and the adapter, but you'll only notice it when mounting/unmounting the lens.
The lens does not move at all during use.
Using a 50mm 1.4 lens with this adapter gives you the equivalent of a superfast 100mm with the depth of field of an f/2.8.
This combo is perfect for portraits.
On the Olympus OM-D all you have to do is put the camera in A or M mode and it works.
You can set the focal length in the stabilization menu (for flash calculations, warnings and metadata purposes).
You can also reassign one of the Fn buttons to the "Magnification" function to help in focusing manually
Even though the magnification defaults to 7x, you can press "info" to change it to 5x, 10x or 14x.
It is quite easy to focus this way.
Finally, the camera looks really cool with the MD lens attached.
So far I have only tried the adapter on MD lenses (I don't have any MCs).
- Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2011I have been using this adapter for roughly 4 months now with my Minolta Rokkor lenses from my SLR. The adapter fits tightly and works splendidly.
The only gripe I have, which is a large enough gripe to make me not use the adapter often, is that its depth creates a "zoomed" in frame perspective. It requires you to stand roughly 15-20 feet away from a subject to gauge the frame. For indoor shooting, this can prove to be a pain, especially when using any flash, as the flash will be at too far of a distance to illuminate the subject. For outdoor shooting, with space to move, it works well.
If the adapter was shorter in depth, it would be perfect, and I truly wish it was. I haven't found many other options for other adapters with a more shallow depth to fix the problem, and I assume the simple mechanics of the adapter may somehow need this depth to work properly. If anyone has any leads on an adapter of similar value and price, with a more shallow depth, please share.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2024This is a great adapter for those who have old glass lenses from the 1960's and 1970's and back in the day we spent a pile of money for those lenses. The old glass lenses like the Vivitar Series 1 lenses which are still great lenses.
With this adapter I can connect the old lenses to my Panasonic Lumix G7 camera and use them for shooting my videos.

Amazon CustomerReviewed in the United Kingdom on November 11, 20235.0 out of 5 stars This works just fine
This adapter enables me to fit my old full frame Minolta manual focus lenses to my Panasonic G9 camera. It's very well made and the lenses fit on without a hitch. Obviously I have to use manual metering and settings as there is no electronic connectivity, but the camera copes with this easily. What is particularly nice is that the camera has focus assist and shows you exactly what is in sharp focus even when using these old lenses. Being full frame lenses, the centre section - the highest optical quality area - is the part which is in use with the smaller sensor camera.

Works perfectly as it should.

MBGReviewed in Mexico on January 14, 20185.0 out of 5 stars Buen adaptador relación precio - calidad

NutjeReviewed in France on January 9, 20155.0 out of 5 stars Efficace
