This is the best collection of Foucault interviews in English that I'm aware of. His interviews are generally useful for introducing and teasing out the basics of his thought. Recommended to anyone who is trying to get a sense of Foucault without committing to reading any of his studies in full.

Foucault turned the interview into an art form. Though it he extended many of his ideas, challenged different audiences and built a bridge between his different works. For those that really want to broaden their appreciation of Foucault's work and see thought in operation it is a must.

Michel Foucault (1926-1984) was a French philosopher, historian of ideas, and social theorist and activist; he wrote many books, such as Madness and Civilization: A History of Insanity in the Age of Reason, The Birth of the Clinic, Discipline & Punish: The Birth of the Prison, The History of Sexuality, Vol. 1: An Introduction, The History of Sexuality, Vol. 2: The Use of Pleasure, The History of Sexuality, Vol. 3: The Care of the Self, etc. Openly gay [see the James Miller biography, The Passion of Michel Foucault], he died of AIDS---the first “public figure” in France to die of the virus.Read more ›

Format: Paperback
This is I think the best single collection of short pieces by Foucault available in English. However, the translation job is not that great (it sticks far too close to the French, as the translator is himself French), and many of the pieces here are therefore better read where they are better translated elsewhere.
