I can't believe that these four books in this series that all four held my interest to the very end. Usually after the first 2 or 3 books in a series, I find myself losing interest. But not with this wonderfully written work. I hope she writes a follow up book. The main characters stay true throughout all these books and I loved that. Please if this review helps you decide to read, start at the beginning and you learn all the background but if reading just on it's own you won't be disappointed.

This series has kept my attention. Nice to see it continued with Lorne coming back to the police force. Lots of suspense and intrigue in all of the books. The one thing I do not like, however, is how appalling the crimes in these books truly are. It is as if absolutely nothing good is ever allowed to happen in Lorne's life without sheer carnage taking place first.

I gave this book 3 stars, because I found it ended quickly and I doubt we will ever hear how the families who had the heinous crimes committed against them coped. Not well I am sure. I also found the crimes were written well, but the interrogations were all just paraphrased. I would also have liked to hear a little more what happened in Katy's personal life to somewhat tie up that loose end.

Foul Justice is the fourth book in the DI Lorne Simpkins series.

This book sees Lorne returning back to work after having a two year break. Her first case back is to find the criminals behind an horrific robbery where two young children were brutally murdered. Not only does she have her work cut out with a challenging case she has the added worry of Tony, the man in her life, being sent on a dangerous mission. To top it all off she also has a new partner at work, Katy, who to start with Lorne struggles to warm to.

The first chapter had me hooked straight away and I devoured Foul Justice in one afternoon. The author doesn't hold any punches with this book, from the very first chapter all the way through and by the end I felt I'd done a round with Rocky Balboa. She certainly knows how to shock and thrill her readers.

To start with I didn't really like Katy, Lorne's new partner but it wasn't long before I started to change my mind. I enjoyed seeing their partnership grow into them becoming friends and I look forward to reading more of this relationship through out the course of the series.

Though it is quite a happy ending for Lorne and Tony in this book, due to certain events it did leave me wondering what the future holds for the loved up couple and what the future has in store for them.

Another great book in the series and can't wait to read the next one.

Decent story line, likable characters, interesting. Some of the writing needs a bit of tweaking. For example, "virtually non-existent" is not a good use of language. Just say scarce. Cliches, such as "ringing off the hook", wear on my patience. Some formatting errors slow things down while the reader tries to understand what is going on. Too much detail is given in many instances, which also slows down the reader. Much of it could be deleted without changing the story. Referring to evidence as only hair or fingerprints is a bit short. There's a lot more evidence than that. Overall, I enjoyed the book. I would probably read another book by this author. It is, after all, the story that I'm after. Good writing is a plus, but I can get along without it.

What was the reaction of the families after the murderers were caught? What role does the sister play? When sisters are close, they talk, they share, but Lorne's sister is only mentioned when it is convenient to do so. Why introduce a character that is only mentioned once or twice?

Overall did I enjoy the read? Yes Would I recommend? Yes

This is another great novel by M.A. Comley, the fourth in her Justice Series. I would suggest whoever wishes to read this series to start from the first instalment - Cruel Justice, since all characters and storylines develop through the novels.

In Foul Justice, D.I. Lorne Simpkins is back on the force after an absence of two years. With no chance to settle down in her job, she is immediately faced with problems from day one. She is handed over a major gruesome robbery/murder case in which wealthy footballers' families have been targeted. She also has a new partner to contend with, Sergeant Katy Foster who didn't exactly click with her from the beginning. Lorne is also very concerned about the love of her life, Tony, who has been dispatched to Afghanistan on a secret dangerous mission.

In this novel we see Lorne's investigative skills at their best. The author paints a picture showing Lorne's capability of identifying and understanding other persons' situations, feelings, thoughts and attitudes.

Another thumbs up for M.A.Comley !!!

I could not put this book down.

This book is beautifully written and kept my interest throughout. I wanted to know what was going on with the case Lorne was working on, and wanted to know more about the new characters. I feel that Mel Comley balanced this perfectly.

I have to admit, at first I was a little apprehensive, due to my love for Lorne's last partner.. but her new partner is just as awesome! I feel that she compliments Lorne's personality well.

Foul Justice kept me kept me guessing throughout. There were parts where I laughed, and even cried! The ending was absolutely superb and a truly fitting end for our lovable detective!

It deeply saddens me that this book is the last in a series that has affected my so deeply; I truly feel as if I know the characters and am sad to say goodbye to them. I wish Mel the best in all her future endeavors and will always be silently wishing to see Lorne and the gang again!
