Editorial Reviews

Review

"Her easy to read book, with cute imagery, is focused on moms and their entrepreneurial journey but (shh) it's really a great field guide for a dad or anyone starting their business."  —Ramon Ray, SmallBizTechnology.com

"In Found It: A Field Guide for Mom Entrepreneurs, Salzman is speaking from a great deal of experience. She's the brains and energy behind Founding Moms, she's sold two successful businesses, and her encouragement and advice come together in this lovely book that reads like a coffee date with a good friend."  —Eva, http://www.coolmompicks.com

"Practical and plucky, her advice is good for entrepreneurs regardless of family status. All of us have "kids" of some sort in our lives that require us to be flexible and accommodating. And the book offers a lot of tips for dealing with these situations without guilt and without losing sight of your business goals. [...]She continually emphasizes business sustainability throughout the book. From going the sans-financing bootstrap route to not relying on the fleeting business boost from great PR, Jill's advice helps mom entrepreneurs look beyond the passion and excitement of a new business in order to create a successful future. Give Found It a read. Consider it a virtual Starbucks run with a mom entrepreneur who's been there and done that, minus the latte."  —Heidi Thorne, Promo With Purpose Today

“The book has a certain plucky charm and is accompanied by humorous illustrations by John Hartzell. For educated and ambitious mamas who are big on ideas but short on time.”  —Library Journal

I love this book! Salzman is a mom who has owned 3 businesses, and she clearly knows what she's talking about. Her writing style is humorous, smart, and informative. As I read the book, I was laughing one minute and taking notes the next! The author shares tons of helpful resources (with an excellent and time saving index in the back.) This book is part "how to guide," part "you can do it", with a helping of "been there, done that, let me save you some time!" Reading this book left me with a sense of confidence and excitement about being a mom entrepreneur. Glad I "Found It!" Highly recommended!

So glad I did. Encouraging, informative, and a read that will make you want to be an entrepreneur if you're not already. This information is not easy to find and I've already employed some of its advice. I'm especially fond of the urging to lose the business plan and START. In addition to the particulars, there is an overall substantive message in this book which is that women can make "it" happen--whatever it is for them, but she urges you in on in a realistic way (e.g., ways to conquer the dinner debacle while you're trying to take over the world).

For the reader of this review, I am not a friend of Jill's and promote this completely independently with no hint from her that I should. However, I did meet her recently by attending one of her Founding Moms meetings. The women and the information . . . it is all very serious and I have improved my organization, which I started with nothing but a gut feeling, quickly as a result. This is why Founding Moms went from one meetup to worldwide meetups in a matter of seconds.

I think this book is truly a "field guide". It reads like a travel companion because it is immediately relevant and useful. Most business books are broad, vague and dull. This one stands out. And with its short chapters, it's really easy to pick up anytime and pick up where I left off. So glad I "found it" (ha ha).
