I had hoped to have the book before Christmas but didn't get it until Christmas morning. I thought to just read the first story " Little Candle" before my husband awoke. I had been to a candle lighting service on Christmas Eve. This short story added to my appreciation of the night before. I could see this being a children's sermon in the future.
I had finished "Sister Frances" before I had to fix breakfast. A beautiful tender story.
My other favorite of the six stories was "Tickets" written in 6 short acts. It had me cringing and trying to remove the mote in my own eye .
These stories are NOT parables with hidden meanings. They come right out and smack you in the face. Do not be deceived thinking, because there are fewer than 100 pages, this is a lightweight book. It is a story to be read with and to children and maybe a resource for a confirmation class.
I am now reading "Which side of the road do the flowers grow ?" Review to follow in time.
From this Thanksgiving to Christmastime I will only be reviewing Holiday books for your reading pleasure before drastically scaling back my reviews, so until such a time have a very, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
The "suddenly ending" may have something to do with how my digital device displayed the stories. There may have been some glitches because when I tried to turn the page, it went to another story. I tried decrease/increasing the font, re-installing, and reading from another device, but the stories jumped around, so I couldn't figure out if it was poorly written or poorly edited. In the end, I gave up reading the book.
These are short stories of fear, doubt, troubles, poverty, and sadness through loss, and what happens in the process of healing, learning, and inspiration. I want to re read this book many times over. This was free to me, but it's well worth the price, and hope to read more from Wendell Mettey. Thank you ever so much.
The short stories center around people who have lost their way and how they came to found the true meaning of Christmas.
These stories made me remember the reason for the Christmas season. I very much enjoyed them. If you are a Christian and have lost your way these stories may help you find the path again.
