I am a returning student after 14 years of getting my original bachelor's degree. I was a little scared and excited to be taking a chemistry course after all these years. I am really trying hard this go around to understand and do well in my studies. However, I find it very difficult to accomplish this when I have a textbook that is infested with so many mistakes. I'm trying so hard to understand the concepts only to have to second guess myself. Fortunately, I have a professor who agrees and is trying very hard to set our minds at ease. For the record, all of my classmates agree that this is a poorly edited textbook. Whenever someone brings up yet another mistake, we all just roll our eyes! Very Sad!!

For starters, its nice having a book that can be put into a three ring binder. Why? Well, instead of lugging an entire textbook around, I can remove the chapters I need, put those in a binder, and work on those alone. Then you have the fact that this book really takes the time to walk you as a student through all of the problems. There will be one example with a step by step break down of how to solve it. The next will have a few hints, but not actually break it down as the previous one did. The last will have no hints, but answers are provided in the back for some. (I purchased the solution manual so I would have all the answers and step by step help when I was lost!)

Definitely a thorough and useful text. I'd even suggest students who are forced to buy another text that they don't find useful, purchase this as a supplement. You can remove a chapter at a time to go along with your required text, and it'll help you immensely.

This is an ok book. I bought it because I wanted some basic chemistry before I took my first college course, it's not really worth doing. Chemistry is something you just dive into. You don't need to warm up your skills before doing it. The first thing to learn about chemistry is unit conversions. YOu need to convert all kinds of units and different dimensional analatics, volume, speed, time things like that. But after that, getting into actual chemistry, kyou just need to dive in. THis book was a class lower than my first college chem course, so it was a waste of time.

This was my first college Chemistry course, and I thought this wasn't such a great book to used. There were many mistakes in the answer key, also some of the homework (review) questions were also faulty. Most of the concepts were adequately explained, I particularly liked how each concept were discussed, then a sample problem was worked out, then a few practice problems were given after each subsection. Well, that was the only nice part.

The book was meh, okay, I just hated knowing I paid so much for a tiny book that contained so many mistakes!
(Guess there was no choice, since all of the teachers teaching this course at my uni had to use this book!)

I am going to give three stars because the book had writing and highlighted areas. It didn't say it before I bought it. If there's going to be writing and highlights, It should of been mention. This is not a book that was in a new condition look. Fast deliver was great!

When I got this it was in very good shape, but when I was reading through it I noticed that some of the text and sections wasn't in the book. I don't know if this was a misprint or what, but I would of liked to be told this before I got it.

I am very upset. The description indicates it is the paperback version but I received an e-book. I have to have a printed version. I am returning the e-book and have to find a printed version.

For a used book it's very good. Although I purchased it expedited because I needed it within a couple of days it came like 2 weeks after. So I paid extra for no reason.
